SCUM
Grenade Launcher
Does anyone else think this thing is gonna be OP, especially in small spaces like bunkers? And even if it's rare, dedicated squads can easily loot grind enough to find some, they always do.

For SP, it would be lovely. I'm sure the opinions from PvP'ers will be mixed. Like oil, water, and tabasco sauce.

Also useful in PvP, although not harmless.

Reminds me of a lot of how not to throw a grenade videos I like to watch every now and then.

Also reminds me of a quote from an acquaintance who had the pleasure of putting a rocket launcher in my hand, but quickly regretted it.

I do think that there will be tactical advantages for both sides here. Both in PvP and one way or another in PvE. Unless, of course, he has such loving malfunctioning side effects, which causes the part in the launcher to explode. It will definitely be fun to try this out without breaking my back carrying the ammo.

Yes it will be better if it has big drawbacks to use it but it just seems to me if you're in a bunker and see some guys in a room or coming around a corner, just fire away and easily get a kill or 2 or more without anyone having a chance at retaliating. And no matter the drawbacks, a big squad will be able to easily carry the burden. I think there's going to be a lot of complaining when it comes out but I actually support its addition, I think the more weapon diversity the better but I just can't figure out how it's gonna be truly balanced.

I think we'll have to see that. Even now you can technically do that with hand grenades. A good thrower definitely has good cards here, as long as he carries enough ammo with him.

Of course, squads always have a certain advantage due to their sheer numbers, but that also gives them a corresponding disadvantage. In a thoughtless moment when everyone is traveling together, a single well-placed shot is usually enough to eliminate 4 opponents at once. On the other hand, you only ever suffer 1 loss. You should always make sure that you only carry the bare essentials with you, the more losses the others usually have.

Experience has shown that you can make it really difficult for squads, but their armament plays less of a role.

Yes but in closed in spots like a bunker, its use is the same regardless of how many guys you got. whoever has the jump can just wait til you turn a corner and just delete you. You might say well you can do the same with a gun but I would say it's very different because you can kill multiple with one shot and accuracy is not required, fire straight at the ground around them and they die. And hand grenades take time to blow, no matter what you gotta time it a lot more. I've had so many instances of gun fights in bunkers where if I had a grenade launcher to just fire at a corner, i'd have killed 2-3 guys easily. No warning, nothing just a *thunk* and they're all dead. I think grenades are balanced, I think a aim and fire explosive weapon is gonna be real hard to balance.

Mind you, I realise there is explosive crossbow bolts already in game but I have never used, nor seen them ever used so I don't know how they compare.

Yeah the two things players complain about most in shooteres is IR and grenade launchers, I'm super bummed its coming to the game,]

Hopfeully they will make them as under whelming as they are in real life...

Yeah, i remember my first online deathmatches back in 1999 playing Half-Life multiplayer. The MP5's with underslung GL's were the best weapon in the game, long as you could keep finding grenades for it. Any grenade lobbed within 20 feet of an enemy (in any direction) was a sure kill. IRL, out in the open (as per your YT video), one could land right next to you and just make you deaf for a bit. Small round, small explosive charge, minimal shrapnel cone. Best used in enclosed spaces where the shrapnel and blast force are contained and ricocheted within a small area.

funny thing about a 203 is it has a charging distance that is triggered by the rate of spin on the shell....shooting at the ground should do nothing and anyone within 14-27 meters unless it drills them in the chest would be fine. i guess we will see how realistic they went with it.

This is actually a very good idea of balancing it, I would rather have it uber realistic and it doesn't arm when shot close which would mean you cant pre-aim a corner down a short hallway and fire it. If you were in a bunker, you'd have to be very aware of distance to use it correctly if at all.

wasnt there a US soldier that got shot with a m203 in the forearm? Didnt explode but his forearm needed reconstructive surgery to save it.

Right? We had a pool going (think it got up to $4,500) to the first person who could tag someone with a star cluster in close quarters since we rarely got to use the 203 (most of our contact was urban, go figure), figured we would at least make it amusing.

I suspect all of the amusement would have been one-sided ;-)

I suspect you would be correct. Nobody ever won the pool so I can only guess lol

Hey there OP, it highly depends honestly, it will go through high balancing if and when it will be released so it doesn't break the game, just like everything else that is being added to the game everything needs to be balanced out first so we can be sure it's not overpowered.
