This is really annoying to the point it gives me a headache....and if it keeps up ill just have to stop playing.

I think it makes the game have a more realistic feel when the clouds change the brightness. I personally like it.

It's because clouds cover the light source when they pass above you aka the Sun or the moon.

it looks awesome

And it is extremely awesome.

This dynamic weather were the clouds cover the moon sometimes, and it can go from dark to darker and vice versa is fantastic and brilliant. Its the right way to go, sometimes u need a flashlight and sometimes not. Very realistic in my humble opinion - i have not seen any game as beautiful like this now....(only negative thing i notice is during the day when i look from land over water to the horizon I can notice some flickering or z fighting where the
sky meets the water) but im sure it can be fixed in time

Thank you for your nice words! :)
We are aware of the issue that you are describing and we have our guys working on it.

I just noticed a crazy flickering of the sea/water during a thunderstorm... Was this issue resolved yet, or should I worry about my graphics? xD

We are aware of that issue but due to some limitations it's harder to resolve it so it might take some time before we can fix that.

I don't like the darkness and the rain and the rapid changing of weather conditions in the game. It's not natural at all and makes me hate the game more and more from day to day. They may think it's realistic but it's not, it's more about showing off, (look how damn good we are and how much skill we've got to make the game look different and how realistic the rain feels, oh my god....) not about realism. The human eye covers brightness changings in the real world, but not when u look at a monitor. That's why this sucks so very much in the game, but not in real life. Yes, light effects are great in scum, but much too strong and way too often.

I think the game is too bright during sunny, clear conditions. The sun looks as white as snow and details in the snowy areas are bleached out from a distance.

The whole environment and lighting is going through a very detailed rework, with new Mediterranean parts introducing a first batch of changes. Hopefully, new version increments should expand with reworks of continental and mountain biomes, bringing more balance to the overall feeling.

We are reading all feedback and tweaks will be made accordingly.

The new lighting and weather is gorgeous and the weather changes rather slowly when you consider the vanilla time-scale of the game. I LOVE how dark an overcast sky of storm clouds can make it during the daytime. I don't play a wide variety of games, but this is the most beautiful weather and lighting simulation I have seen in a game. It beats MS Flight Sim 2020.
