Having the entire screen flash white isn't how lightning works unless its striking right by you.
I am playing in a super dark room, and that bright flash was making my eyes hurt as well, had to turn the game off each time its night and raining.
Thank you¡¡
the storm effects are great except the lightning flashes, dial those down a little bit and all would be awesome :)
Its not "all" but.. Since 0.5 there are moments that look stunning, (misty fog with patches of sunlight thru passing clouds, or early sunrise) But there has just been something not balanced about the whole day/night cycle.
Nights become heavy in contrast looking bad (especially as this contrast increase begins in early evening while still mostly light) But at strange seemingly random times of the day the colours look washed out and under saturated.. or saturation is fine but brightness is washing out the contrast... These moments I have not been able to pinpoint like the nights. I guess its a certain weather transition..
And then there is that weird visual bug with the new sky against the trees as they move in particular weathers or dusk/dawn cycles.. It's nauseating at times.
So yeah, don't worry about the lightning. What I'm curious on is, could the weather/lighting system be rolled back to how it was in previous UE versions? Until you really have improved what you are doing in the 0.5 engine? Or it cant work like that?
Sure, some said the nights were too dark in the past but god, the game's look was much more consistent. Now it goes from looking beautiful one moment to ugly and broken the next.
Sry if it sounds harsh. I love the work you guys do. And I know the goal is to fix the game to look good using the latest UE, not roll backwards in any way.
I probably pay too much attention to environment stuff. But its what I look at the most.
I only noticed today, while asking myself why I look at these things more, that the character model, their clothing etc, all looks great no matter the environment type, time of day or weathers. And maybe that is the thing most people look at.
