SCUM
Best non POI for gathering materials
Gathering materials is a big part of the game, especially now that the overall material requirements to build the most top tier walls went through the roof, in near future this is only going to increase with the addition of other elements getting into the cement tier.

This could be useful for sp players that are tired of running all over the place while gathering these materials, the map is so big that it really takes time to travel around. Some might also be tired of the lagfest in the city if running on low end computer. Also useful to know for multiplayer.

I would rate C1 town highly for this purpose. I'd say it goes beyond Novigrad too, what comes to resources.
  1. 3 different nodes of bricks. Containing up to 50 bricks per trip to the town.
  2. 10+ Lootable piles of logs, easily fill your vehicle with these, not quite a lumber mill though.
  3. A few lootable plank piles. Better just cut the logs into planks tbh, but these are here too.
  4. Over 15 buildings that can spawn concrete making materials (after the 1/25 fix goes live).
  5. Fair amount of car wrecks for your metal needs, could be more though.
  6. Police station

Rate your favorite town/village for this purpose, and why is it so good.

I would just like to add to this, it is much more efficient if you cut the tree down into logs and store them in the car than it is to search it in the pile. Once you are searching for some materials you will need that extra inventory space. :)

Hmmh hmmh, this is news. So there are different sized logs around? I need to test this :)

Shouldnt it be the other way around? Logs cut by a professional lumberjack would be more efficient for storing, even more so for those cut in a lumberyard. Now a prisoner would not know much about handling these unless one was in the profession before the island.
Just thoughts on it...

No, generally all logs are the same size, the thing is you will get more of them once you cut down the tree. So it's more efficient in terms of collecting it.

Like if you park your car in this exact spot, you will have 30ish logs ready to be drag'n'dropped to your car, without cutting anything, and you dont need to move the car to the next tree you want to cut down. Youre right in getting 2 more log out of a tree when you cut it down. Im comparing the biggest pile seen in here with the biggest tree you can see from here, the pile has 7 in it and that big tree on the other side of the road gives 9.
If my base wasnt near to this location, i would just cut the local trees rather than fetching the logs from these piles.
I put the topic up so some people could write this kind of info here. Perhaps to even help decide where people want to put their base up. I think its not an absolute necessity to move around so much collecting this stuff from the so hot hot locations. Also the vehicle inventory feels very limited now when the material requirements went up by so much.

True but I find it easier to just build the base in the woods and use the trees that you cut down rather than going around and collecting them. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, but rather what would be easier method. :)
