Improvised Raincoat Rain Collector... bug or feature?

Hello,

So I was driving around like a maniac gathering the items needed to build a "Improvised Raincoat Rain Collector"... super cool idea by the way...!
So once it was made I but it on the roof of my cabin... for the first time hoping for rain...

Of course it did NOT! XD

Anyway the real problem is that after I logged out and back in again the Rain Collector was gone. Is that supposed to happen? I mean shouldn't it be an item like a chest or base building item that persists? Or are we supposed to put it away every time we log off?

yeah i got a base in the woods far from civilization or water ....
i was so hyped about my water collector on my roof after i got back from shopping outisde of the game, it was gone ....

Does it count as a BB object when placing a flag? So people can't destroy it?

I was excited to finally have a water source, but as soon as you make the improvised Raincoat Rain Collector it tells you "item will soon be expired"-- additionally it is too large to carry in hand or in pack. I've been storing mine in a chest until the bug is fixed...but from the message history it appears it has been like this for over a year.

I haven't had this problem. I've had a rain collector placed on a piece of floor sticking out of my base like a platform, for weeks now. I have the large one you craft with gas cans and also the smaller ones crafted from cans and bottles next to it. All of them have remained in their place.
@vorespawn - did you try building a well inside your flag area and also the rain collector inside your flag area?
(EDIT: and just now realized this is an old thread from 2021 apart from vorespawn's post *facepalm* )
