Is It Alpha or Beta?

Hello! I am discussing about the game and I think it's still in the Alpha stage but someone insists that it's already a Beta.

Can someone help me with an official word, please? If I am really right, I want to show them.

the game is in early access, so far from both beta and alpha, there is nothing in the game who screams alpha at all so i dunno what you and your friends are talking about. The game is in a good state atm. And since i saw you have 1600 in the game you should know this otherwise i would say you are very ignorant how the game have changed

Beta testing is typically done when the game has been polished and optimized fully. It is for all intent and purpose a finished game when it enters beta. I can think of only one notable exception to this and that's escape from tarkov which has been in beta test for a long time now. I'm not sure why they did that but it could be that they don't intent to make any additional changes to the engine or graphics systems so they just went ahead and moved to the next stage even though they are still building out maps.

This title still has a ways to go.

Scum is in a really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up position at the moment. Doesn't matter if it's alpha, beta, release version whatever. That's the fact. Some of the things in this game is 10/10 and damn good and on point, while others are just jarring half-working bugfest garbage.

i think you missed the part where the game tells you it is in early access and you can expect bugs

i never said the game is in perfect state so calling me a fanboy from nowhere is really cute when i never even tried to be rude either against you :) I know the game have it's issues, but the game is still in a better state now than earlier. Still early access and bugs will happen.

Also i will not go anywhere, im allowed to be here ;)

but you did complain, no matter what you say. And you didn't even come with feedback than just pretty much flaming the game for what is is right now according to you

How I personally see this:
It's popular to call EA title players as "beta testers". I do it myself as well, but technically it's not correct imho. Beta testing comes with pre-launch of ready build/version, usually before release. Since updates comes regularly, players, are beta testers for new updates. But if we are talking about game in general, than alpha testing probably should be the correct term, since game is far from release yet.

Game is actually in Gamma Quadra state, it is in Early Access but not exactly Alpha nor Beta.

Alpha - A game in alpha is feature complete, it is playable and contains all the major features. Bugs are common, and minor features or functionalities can be added in this phase too.

Beta is when the game has all features and assets implemented. The only thing that devs are fixing here are bugs. No features are added during this phase. Beta usually means that the game is 2-3 months before the first release candidate (RC) is shipped.

RC - aka Release candidates, represent versions of the game that have to go through the final testing before being approved for the release. They can go from RC1 to RC100+. This is usually somewhere between 1 week to 1 month before the gold.

GOLD - or the final build of the game, tested and ready to be released.
Which brings us to pre-Alpha, so any game with features and content being added is in PRE-ALPHA STATE, as SCUM is right now.

Finally EA is what the title says, an early access to the game that is in development. It does not imply that the game is in the specific stage but it means that the community can test the game as it is being developed. EA games can be in pre-alpha, alpha or beta stages.

where was it feedback in that comment you did ? if i meet a bug i don't curse and going all mad, im being nice and type out what i've found. That's how you do it not cursing and being a prick like you where in this thread.

You sat here and literally said the game is in a fed up part which is not true, and you called most stuff in it garbage. That's a way to flame the game only because you feel you can, the game is in a way better state now than what you seem to know, so i hardly believe you have played it in a while, i have played it since day one where it had it's worse moment, then i jumped in after some months and it was still in some meish states, than i waited and i can tell you the game is way better now.
