Yes, bombs are critical equipment in Single Player, which is what the OP was talking about. Not. I'd like to see an option to vaporize all the lockpicking-related crap that fouls up and horribly dilutes the already limp SP loot drop tables. That BS probably wastes somewhere between 30-50% of all loot drops in SP.
So you want a custom loot table only for SP? right, sounds like a good use of dev time.
Eventually, it would be nice. What purpose does it serve those players dedicated solely to the single player experience, to be constantly bombarded with that crap which has exactly zero use in SP, and in truth horribly dilutes their chances of getting actually useful loot? Sure, make a toggle so PvP'ers who want to slum around in SP just to practice their lockpicking can get that junk if they want to (although the smart ones probably just admin-command in whatever lockpicking sh*t they want anyway, not bothering to go loot it).
But it's an insult to dedicated SP'ers to be constantly bombarded with the unfortunately enormous quantities of that useless dreck. Takes away from my enjoyment big time, i can confirm. I think that treating the single player game experience as if it's just a minor secondary extension of the multiplayer PvP game, with no allowance for how the painful intrusion of all those pointless, unnecessary and downright negatively-impactful PvP-related features actually eff up the solo SP experience, is a sad mistake.
i mean.... the game is meant to be hard right? are we saying rubber bands aren't common in RL?
Also they can barely get the loot tables in multiplayer tuned. I just don't see single player as a high priority in terms of balance. I could be totally off base here but i doubt many people are "dedicated" single players. Especially given how little there is to do in single player.
Sure, there are lots of rubber bands in the real world. Just like there are a gazillion other things really common in the real world that don't exist at all in SCUM. Not a valid point.
Not saying it should be a top priority right now. But being bombarded by literal tons of crap that has zero use to the SP, has nothing to do with 'making it hard'. It's purely making it stupid. I have no idea what the ratio of solo SP'ers to PvP'ers is, but it should be addressed by launch time, in my opinion. Single player is a thing now, and will be a much bigger thing then, as I'm sure many gamers will want the solo SP experience, which is supposed to be an important feature of this survival game, and will indeed buy the game primarily just for that, once it's released.
Please tell me how being bombarded with endless paperclips, locks, lockpicks, bobby pins, etc, etc, et-fricking-cetera, is going to be in any way beneficial or appreciated by those players? As one of them now, I can guarantee you it won't be appreciated, at all. It will be a real head-scratcher, and major annoyance. As it is now. The loot tables really are badly in need of being more finely tuned for the two very different gaming environments, before release. As for difficulty to implement, how hard can it be to put a simple "MP-yes, SP-no' flag on loot items that are only useful at all in MP? Anyway, that's my two cents.
Noting in the game right now that also exists in RL doesn;t have a use. So it's 100% valid to compare it to RL. Just because you don't use it now doesn't mean it doesn't have a use. There is .6 more to come in the game before launch. Do you really think by then you won't have locks to pick? or things to blow up? Do you actually believe the developers have simply forgotten that in the end the entire game will require all your skills to play? or maybe it's just you?
I'll spot you that possibility, although I've heard no mention of it yet. But in the meantime, all that **** is still entirely annoying right now. And it's way overdone. Perhaps PvP'ers love seeing 50% of their drops being lockpicking crap, but i sure the heck do not. Even if they do make that sort of stuff useful in SP eventually, I'd hope they'd be smart enough to reduce it's extremely overdone drop rate, there. Doesn't make any sense to see the amount of lockpicking-related drops that's tuned for a 60-player pvp server, dropping in a SP game. If lockpicks and bobby pins dropped about as frequently as screwdrivers do, THEN we'll be getting right-side up.
There have been a few threads from people wanting a loot rework for similar reasons lately, and they make tweaks as we go along to be fair, but focusing on it now is wasted effort. They'll just have to rework it all over again later after another patch or added content.
Once we get to the end of dev time the standard loot table will be better tweaked, and I think we'll either have a separate table for SP or they'll add settings we can play with ourselves. Keep in mind that single player isn't really a special game mode. They've just given us the option to use our computers as the servers and play by ourselves if we want.
Wasn't saying it should be a 'right now' thing, just for the record. But it needs to be a thing, eventually. Your last para there is what I would like to see, most of all. No matter how you slice it, treating SP loot as just an identical mirror of whatever drops in mutliplayer (amounts of particular items, specifically) isn't going to be very helpful for SP'ers. If you're a SP like me, then you know exactly what I'm talking about. Even if/when they do make lockpicking or bombmaking something of interest to SP'ers, there's no way we're ever going to need the huge overbalance of lock/lockpicking items that over clutter the SP loot drops right now. It's just way overdone. WAY overdone. If it's on a server with 60 players all constantly trying to lock their sh*t up or pick other's locks, sure. SP? Just one person? Nyet.
The thing is there has to be something in the loot pool...i mean you get how probability works right? If they want something to be a rare drop then something has to fill the common drop options. The alternative is just less loot dropping altogether. That is clearly not the right way.
Weirdly they like all the cocktails i find like slav reviver and stuff, nothing gay about that
