MP5, AS VAL, M9, Block21, DeserEagle357, Shotgun, SVD, RPK, and bows
Not in the roughly 40 drops I looted so far
I went a long time with only one SVD in a cargo drop, then in the past few days there were like 3 of them. AKS-47U's have been common for me lately too.
It was - I think - Bunny who said they had designed 16 different airdrops for the 0.4 update.
I wanted to know what these 16 different sets are, so I let them drop quickly in SP.
So far I found
(many)M9, Block 21, M5, (many)SVD, AS VAL, AKS 74U, M1887 Shotgun regular and sawed, Compound bow, Kodiak 60# bow, and a few of the new RPK-74.
That's 11 if I am not totally wrong.
...and I really want to know what the other 5 are.
(or if it was a Bunny Joke :D )
16 different airdrops doesn't mean 16 different weapons... Some are crafting based some are probably vehicle based, some are probably still just dud drops full of puppets and not much else. 16 is probably 16 different loot tables. I'm sure some stuff is very rare. svd should be more rare imo
Lets see... even though it was said puppets can still spawn in them, have seen zero puppets inside of one in many dozens of drops since the patch. (don't get me wrong, that's totally effing fine with me)
There are no crafting or vehicle based ones, every single one of them has had a cabinet full of bolts/nails, another full of vehicle stuff, and another full of big red toolboxes. So no, there are no separate ones of those.
My guess is that the other 5 or so drop tables that none (?) of us have seen yet is because they are uber rare, are the AK-47/15's and M16/18's, and the Barret. Rare like a Mosin... lol!
So, this post just brought up an interesting thought. I believe smokey has said in the past that he (or she) only plays SP.
Anyone who plays MP would never consider an airdrop "freebies". Unless the server is dead, an airdrop is more dangerous to hit than a bunker. Everyone knows it's there, everyone knows it's there for a limited time, and everyone knows other people are going to be going for it. Getting loot from an airdrop in MP on a busy server is an ass-puckering experience and a good way to get killed, let me tell you.
I'm only bringing this up because it just struck me this leads to a real problem when trying to balance the loot in airdrops, which is probably why no one ever seems to be happy with it. For someone playing SP only, they are just little gifts from the scum gods that periodically rain down from the heavens, with no risk other than the chance of maybe a few puppets in one. Any loot found is just a gimme. Free toolbox and jerry can for a two minute drive? Awesome. Free SVD and Guilley suit, too? Thanks!
In MP though, there is the risk of people camping the drop, and just waiting for you to come along and walk right into their crosshairs. Or trying to fight off another squad or two when you all show up at the same time. And then, if you live through it, hopefully there's still something in there and someone else hasn't gotten to it first. Much higher risk, and no guarantee of reward, so those player would need to expect more out of the airdrops than a SP player would. All of a sudden risking your life for a red toolbox and a 50# kodiak isn't as worth it.
Perhaps the solution would be to make the loot different for SP and MP, more stuff for crafting and useful common loot for SP, with a slight chance of a weapon or some rare loot. For MP, higher chance of rare loot and high-end weapons. This way the risk/reward ratio can be balanced in SP and MP.
Anyway, just food for thought.
This could of course also count as individual sets from a dev point of view :)
(Edit: This was meant as a reply to smokey's last post)
I doubt it. Probably just randomly chosen stuff from a limited number of food choices. You'll notice there are very few different food options between drops. MRE's, coupla different canned goods, bag of rice, candy bars.
