Puppets as zombies
I mean why they should be walking around like zombies?
Why not putting them into a bush, around a corner, or into a house ready to attack a player passing by? And this without making a sound before the attack?

And no more sleeping puppets. As player comes near (when the spawning of puppets happens) they are active and in search of a prey.

Yes, some of them can be in plain sight, walking around streets or fiels. They are sentry, patrolling an area. And they shouts when they see a player, to alert the others hideen around!

I like the idea of entering a town and not feeling safe, instead of taking a rifle and start to take down one by one by distance.

would be more interesting and immersive as upcoming super puppets and end bosses in every bunker... why not a crawling puppet with no legs more quietly as usual in tall grass?

Pretty sure that will be the niche filled by non-player hunter NPC's, in the future. Puppets act like zombies because that's how Tech1 programmed their BCU's. And why not sleeping puppets? Their bodies still need the same things yours do. Sleep included. The buggers already detect you and wake up way to fast and easy, as it is. Overall, puppets' player-detection routines are a bit too good, in my opinion. Makes it literally impossible to sneak up close to a mobile one, even from behind, for melee purposes. Even with high stealth skill. No, I think they're just fine and dandy the way they are. Except for the detection thing.

I'm talking about "androids", programmed by TECH1 to boost the show. They don't sleep nor eat. We need to sleep. They hunt!

Moving away from the zombie cliché should be nice for the marketing of the game. We got tons of other games with a post apocalyptic world full of zombies.

I prefer the idea of puppets programmed as animals. Looking for prey/food.
TEC1 need to make the show great. In this way puppets can be a nice addon to the rhythm show, not just moving targets.

Well honestly, we don't know what a BCU does.

It can boost puppets into a super human, with high stamina, strength, dex, etc.
It can even boost senses or just make them aware of you.
Btw if you have a decent level of stealth and walk slowly they do not detect you.

To me they should not sleep. They can be frozen, waiting for a player. But sleep...no, don't think so. They do not need to recover...when exausted maybe they explode (like removing the BCU). Don't think TEC1 cares about puppets.

So to me they should be hidden somewhere, waiting for players. Some of them can wander around but just to alert others.
Take for example the classic setup for a police station with 0-2 aorund the building and the others inside. It's too easy to kill them all with just a bow and a meele weapon. Clean the outside area then make some noise and they came to windows. In future they will come out, but now it's too easy.

I like the idea of a survival game where noise can put you in danger! We just RUN around towns looting everything, opening closing door, shooting puppets.....super isi with a gun or rifle. No challenge at all.

Puppets are very strong now but still are no match if you stealthy move around and take them by distance.

Sure, it's always possible to cop out to the 'BCU can give them all 100% superhuman abilities' angle, but that's pretty cheap stuff, there. They gotta have their weaknesses too sometimes, and sleeping and not always being able to detect a beetle farting at 500 yds away in the forest is a good start. Sure, I get it, you have overdeveloped masochistic tendencies and you want superhuman enemies that can kill you with a thought from across the map as soon as you spawn, but I'll pass on that, thanks. You can craft your own server or SP game with those kinds of tough-enemy settings if you want, anyway.

As for having a decent level of stealth and you can walk slowly by and they won't detect you... sure, as long as you stay more than 50 yards away from them. But just try to sneak up behind one, in the dark, with advanced stealth and quiet shoes and all the trimmings, at night, to see if you can get in melee distance... heh. I tried, for testing purposes. Not counting times when there were bushes or cover right up close to them, but only the times when they were out in the open with no cover nearby, i was never able to get closer than maybe 15-20 meters behind them before they detected me, every time. That, IMO, is pretty super-human detection capability, already.

No... You basically want removal of an element that has been there from the start. This is the game. Please find another game that caters better for your taste rather than pushing devs to completely remove and rework a completely fine system.

Other npcs will be added in the future.

I find it funny guys like you make these suggestions like its as simple as changing the color of the wall paint in your house. The Devs are busy adding to the game, they dont need to rework elements that are already working.

Well, make it simple. I'm here as you to help Dev to "develop" this game.
My vision is just a suggestion, a hint. I have no power to drive the develop of the game.

As already sad, world is full of zombies titles (from film to games). SCUM got this nice idea, the dead players of a TV show that reborn as puppets. I like it, I just find too similar to the zombie cliche.

Discussion (the title of this forum) is a way to help devs to find new idea, new balance, fix bugs, etc. No need to attack me or my idea. If you don't like it, just don't reply.

You can easily kill them at distance, no need reach meele range. What for?
You can easily move around near them without being noticed, just walk slow, crouch or hide into brushes.

Stealth assasination could come in future (Bunny talk about that in a post), but it's not my point.

My point is :
in 30-60 min you can craft/find a bow or a rifle. Walking puppets inside towns are just moving targets. You can kill them one by one easily at range. I'm not talking about military bunkers or bases. Towns. So, where is the challenge?

It you want the challenge of puppets that are constantly on the move and hunting you like packs of wolves, always see you, always sneak up on you without a sound, always get the first hit on you, kill you easily, etc, etc... you are a getting out into big-time masochism territory, there. It's fine the way it is, in my opinion. If you want tougher puppets, you can set your own .ini files to do so. Add bunches more of them, make them hit a lot harder, make them a lot harder to kill... or there are tons of public servers that cater to exactly that kind of play.

There will be NPC's added that behave in the manner that you describe, eventually. In the meantime, I appreciate being able to start a new char (or newbies with no SCUM experience trying to start a new char- remember, the game isn't just for experienced, jaded, long-time players), without getting killed first half a dozen times by all-seeing, all-hearing, never sleeping hunter-killer super puppets in every town on the map.

Especially since they are going to eliminate any refuges that we've been able to utilize thus far to make starting out a new char easier... like closed doors, windows, ladders, roofs, etc. No thank you.

Yeah. Not really sure why Tech Co. and the world government conglomerate doesn't just put a BCU on everybody on earth. No more problems, no more discontent, just happy little robots doing exactly what they're told all the time. No need for silly TV shows to keep them pacified.

It is not what I wrote. Please read it again.

Yes but this is another story. Those will be guard, not puppets. They will patrol and do other things. I'm talking about puppets that are too similar to zombies.

About having a safe spawn area, this could be added. Area with low danger, a sort of tutorial zone. Yes +1

Fine. But even after that with a basic rifle/bow you can eliminate them one by one. As puppets spawn when you reach an area, you can see them and hunt down one by one.
Obv if you drive into town, get out and start shooting with a shotgun around...well this SHOULD be considered a suicide action.
