AK47 (AKM) or AK 74u

Hey guys,

which one do you prefer? What are the differences except the ammo type. In real life 7.62x39 does more damage to tissue and 5.56 had better penetration... is it the same in this game?

Great, like i have never tried that before. I do not prefer either. I'm wondering what others prefere and what differences they found.

Well, you should show some effort... or go play something else.

AKM and Ak74U do have a very big difference, it depends on your playstyle.

I prefer the Ak-47 strictly because I found that it is the most common attachment rail and you can find the hunters scope easy enough. I have tried both but only PvP'd with the 47. Puppets go down in a single burst from either gun. I have noticed that I get a lot more ammo for the 74u though.

AKM and SVD can use the same scope, but the AKM can also fire full auto. Is there any reason to take the SVD if given the choice? Does the ammo make much of a difference?

how is that even a question.
the svd has a bigger caliber and deals more damage.
also it's way more accurate vs. ak single fire.

AK-47 is not the same as the AKM. There's an AK-47, AKM, and AK-74 in the game. The 47 sucks because you can't mount a rail or optics. If you want decent all around performance the AKM is best. The AK-74 should be a better close quarters rifle but I don't think that's a functionality in-game yet.

Of course its not the same but uses the same ammo thats why i put it into the same category. AKM is newer and overall better in reality.
You can actually mount a rail on AK47 and then scope or ACOG.
In reality the AK74 has much better recoil due to the newer system but i haven't notice big differences in these three in recoil.

I haven't had any experience using the SVD, so I'd like to hear from someone who have compared them.
Of course I understand the differences of the real world rifles these ingame items are based upon but, since this somehow escaped your otherwise acute notice, this is a videogame. It is also a work in progress. I would like to jnow how the rifles work, in the game, compared to each other.

not done any real testing per say but aesthetically i like the AKM looks real nice with the ACOG attached

you may want to check that the AK47 and AKM both use the same RIS AK47 attachment and can use scopes the AKS 74 on the other hand can not use the attachment and therefore cannot mount scope

Your solution has nothing whatsoever to do with what I ask.
So far I've been using an MP5 for short range and an AKM with hunting scope for long range single shots and medium range bursts. I sometimes put an ACOG on instead.
Question is, would I benefit from carrying the SVD instead of the AKM? I'm asking people who have tried both and would like to offer an opinion.

why would you use an assault rifle over a DESIGNATED MARKSMAN RIFLE for long range?
btw: everything scoperelated goes with your sniper skill level.

as i said the svd is more accurate and deals more damage. you can also use it cqc or midrange if you are good with iron sights and don't need more than 10 bullets.
but in the end ak autofire / burst will be better in that situation.

it's your choice completely. but if you already have akm, why you use mp5 for the same role?
