How to bundle planks?

I have an improvised backpack with a 9 square capacity. I am not able to hold any planks in my inventory. I can only hold one plank in my hand?

I'm trying to build a box but until I can bundle planks or somehow have the ability to hold 8 planks on me ... I will be unable to craft a storage box.

What am I missing?

Once I work out how to have 8 planks on me ... do I just need Rag Strips or Rope to get the bundle option?

Explore your Crafting window.

The items on your right in yellow are what you can craft. When you click on an item, look to the left and at the top of the window you will see the required materials. Those options have left/right arrows below them which show you all the options you can use as a substitute.

OK - Then I must be missing somthing. What you you require for bundling. I see nothing in the crafting information box that stipulates what is rquired to get the option to bundle. It just tells how much and what materials. No Info on how to bundle.

At this point if vincinty is good enough (which is not the case when crafting spears, knife and other items) I must be missing somthing rquired for the bundling process. Again ... no mention of this what is need for 'bundling' in craft window.

Just need to know how to bundle and have a question mark on vicinity only being required as I know for other items I have to make space in my inventory and or hold items in order to craft.

You don't need anything to craft a bundle other than the planks. Have 3 planks on the ground near by (vicinity). Click and select each plank. Right click on one and you have the option to craft a bundle. Pick up the bundle in your hand and carry to your chosen site. Repeat. You can only do 3 planks at a time.

Roger that guys ... I'm going to try it just as you both say. I'll leave use my daul screen and go slowly as I follow both of your advice. I obvoiusly need to slow down and keep getting my feet wet. It would help if my character was not constantly getting wiped with every patch.
