The Dell U2412M 24 is a LCD with a IPS panel ^^ you can only have a LCD or a TFT + one of the listed panel types :D

So it's the same as mine, what you can try is to test your monitor adjustment.
https://panoramashots.co.uk/technical-notes/test-cards/ Make sure you can see all 10 black/wihte-parts of the second picture if not, your settings are to dark. Eventually it will fix it for you or made it a bit better, so good luck^^

Make, model and panel type do matter. Thus the question.

And then you attempt to make light of my question by saying it's a red flag?

I'll be more specific for you.

Are you professionally calibrated? Are you using a Datacolor Sypder Pro or X-Rite Eye One 2 or X-Rite ColorMonki. :)

Yes these questions do matter because if you are using equipment that cannot accept a proper professional calibration and hold it, then your opinion is skewed heavily and poorly into the wrong direction.
Not if correctly calibrated. Any monitor correctly calibrated should have similar darkness levels.

Are you using HDR? If so then that might be why you find the game to be too dark.

Also, I'm not taking your bait. I will tell you my monitor then you'll tell me that my monitor is the reason the game is bright. No. As said I have two completely different monitors, brightness is the same on both since I have calibrated them correctly.

1. There is no HDR, my monitors are not capable of such things.

2. There is no bait, lol. Just a knowledgable person who wants to help someone.

3. You can see my full specs at my Twitch channel which is also my user name on steam ;)

4. Brightness and contrast settings are just one small part of a proper calibration.

5. Brother I can't help you if you don't list specs. As I said earlier I have the same monitor as the original poster. Same exact setup. I do this (help people) for a living. If you're unwilling or unable to properly answer simple tech questions then you cannot be helped. GG bro, GG.

You most likely calibrated to a higher gamma setting. Typically 2.0 or 2.2. A bright night in this game especially on an IPS setup is not normal or standard FYI.

As I've stated above, I've been trying to help this other fellow but he's unable or unwilling to answer any specific questions.

LMAO that is completely non-sensical. Did you read back what you just wrote?

Game isn't too dark -doesn't recommend game. LOL. If you want it to be darker then turn yer gamma down. Literally the silliest statement I've read here.

I'm knowledgeable myself.
I don't need help, my game looks perfect. Not too bright, not too dark.
I've been building and tweaking PCs (along with monitors etc) for over 20yrs. I've probably done this for a living longer than you've been alive. But if I am wrong about you baiting me then I apologise. I just suspect you would tell me my monitor sucks or whatnot, even though I'm saying the game isn't too dark for me, nor anyone I know, nor any streamer I've seen. We can't all be wrong.

I have a fairly old Asus MW221 and a Sonia Bravia (don't knock it. It's a top of the line TV and games look amazing on it, and no lag), my mate has one of the new Asus curved IPS panels. None of us are seeing nights that are too dark.

FYI My blacks are BLACK as can be, my whites are white, but not overly so. As I said, I know how to calibrate my monitor and I'm very very fussy about it.

Brightness and contrast are indeed just one part of proper calibration you are correct. My monitor is properly calibrated. This includes grey levels, colour temp and level/balance, black levels, brightness, gamma, contrast, backlight, low light levels and every other possible setting. Also using full range RGB and 10bit colour. Something a lot of people don't even know or understand.

I wasn't the one needing help on here. I was the one saying that no, the game is not too dark.

Not silly at all, brightness at night has a huge impact on gameplay. I have tried the game with 2 different monitors and on both night time is way to bright.
Nope.

"night has a huge impact on gameplay" - you don't say? I've only been playing games for longer than you've been alive. It's fine as is. We don't need over the top realism at the expense of the game being tedious.

Also, "too". It's a 3 letter word ffs. How hard is that?

You keep forgetting to add 'in my opinion'. SCUM isn't a kiddy game, it is (will be) a somewhat hardcore survival game with realism it's only natural that the game will also be properly dark at night otherwise there is no challenge in night time.

And nobody likes grammar nazi's on forums, don't be that guy.
You don't like grammar nazis (no apostrophe) that's your problem, not mine. You're using a forum. Words matter. Use the correct ones. I mean if you can't tell the difference between "too" and "to" I'm not sure anything you have to say carries much weight.

"isn't a kiddy game" - well, that's great. I'm not a kid. However, growing old is unavoidable. Growing up is optional. I'm 47 and I never intend on growing up. Games are meant to be fun. I love hardcore and while I agree nights should be a little darker perhaps, it's not a huge deal. Nobody wants empty servers just because it's night. That's what happens in every other game (arma 3, dayz etc) that has nights that are too dark with no eye adaptation.

Have you ever been outside at night? In the middle of nowhere? I have, in many different countries. In places with no light pollution. And I can tell you, you can see quite well, even with just a quarter moon. Nothing like in DayZ.

SCUM is on the right path.

You're whinging. Nobody likes a whinger.

See now I have respect my friend :) I too have been building and tweaking PC's and tech for 25+ years. Always nice to come across a fellow gear head. My older monitors in the house (still going strong) are my now daughters, Samsung 215TW's.

That Sony Bravia is most likely a VA panel and calibratable but sadly that Asus is a 2ms TN panel. It might calibrate briefly but it won't hold a properly calibration and definitely won't show proper brightness and gamma just because it can't. Since it's tough to find full proper specs on it since it's so old, I was able to drag this up from the depths of Google. But like I said, if it works for you, it works for you :) Cheers brother! If you ever wanna survive together, lemme know.

Thanks for your kind words. Honestly I've never seen an issue with the Asus, even though it's old. The Sony is great though and while I'd love to have the money to get an up to date monitor, after building my latest rig I'm a little broke :D

You are on an international forum dumbo so for a lot of people English is not even their first language. Being a grammar nazi on an international forum makes you look like an old fart whiner.
And if you agree that nights should be darker then what is your problem?
"dumbo"

Oh so it's ok to insult someone but not to politely correct them? I speak more than one language. I learned only because I was WILLING and took correction as a positive, not a negative. You should do the same instead of being so offended.

Also, I don't have a problem! You seem to have missed this entire debate!
