Wait till the Map is removed, and you have to find a map within the map, yes good times await..

Not sure if GPS is going to be in the game to be honest, do i want it, not really i want the game stripped back and made harder myself but each to there own..

Just like there are several qualities of compasses, I can see there being several fidelities of in-game maps to find. Maybe the most advanced “map” could be a gps device you bring up to view much like the watch.

You will need to find a map. Also when you found one, there wont be a red dot on the map. You will need to find a gps to see where you are, but it will be very simple. There will be only a point on the map showing your position. So until you find a gps you should use a compass and a map, to have a better survival experience. That is what i heared from a devstream.

There's absolutely no need for a gps in survival game. You already have a red dot that marks your position on the map and the sun to show you where you are looking at. Anyone who has ever been to elementary school knows where the sun rises and where it goes down. I welcome getting rid of that arcadey map and the red dot altogether.

of course u do... harder harder harder less less less.
wish theyd make a separate game for u all [cant say it]

its really needed cos map dont zoom.
suppose urall gonna tell me that to look close at something like a map (zoom in) should be a 10 BILLION point skill u have to earn. by squinting, 1 point per hour..

purfect. develop on that pls and not any more things like coffee or making an even higher tier super-compass with lights an foot massage and holds coins for the coffee machines..sheesh. thanks.

I have a map an compass comes standard where I play- top of the screen. its free I dont need the ones u find- why even make those.

an just now when I thought of that ^ i got immense pleasure thinking how much that must drive uall 'harder harder harder less less less' folks crazy-
A map from the start and a compass always at the top of the screen??, standard! OMG!. lol

At one point in the development there will be maps you have to find for orientation.
And you will be able to make marks on these maps.
Not sure what you're going to use for these marks, because I haven't found a pencil on the whole island yet.
However, until this happens:
What keeps you back from printing out a screenshot of the map for your convenience?

A) I have it all memorized already anyway

B) ALT-TAB to saved SCUM map pic on my desktop in large scale format so I can actually zoom in and see all the tiny small scale stuff that the ingame map blows way too many effing diseased goats to allow you any tools to actually zoom in and look at.

Oh, did i forget to mention what i think of the current ingame map? A large scale world map with tiny features and no simple zoom tool. How 1980's.

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait a minute there buddy!, your not gonna come in here, and want a zoom feature on a Map u shouldnt even have! in the first place!.

there should be 500 pieces of the map scattered around the map, guarded by 500 mechs and 500 muppets and then find scotch tape one roll spawns once a year in the bottom of the mines guarded by super-miner-zombies who spit fire and swing pickaxes, cause as u easy-boy yahoos already got it WAY TOO EASSSSYYYY!!!.

srlsly- if anything map should be blacked out an reveal as you go- you dont know where u are when you spawned, shouldnt have a whole map revealed.
thats a has-been-standard forever.
and it would slowly grey then black out again if you dont regularly go there. your memory gets hazy then forget completely.

but then also gps and zoom, where u can click on map and sets a mark and makes a route there. like.. yeah, a gps. thanks.
we all have map memorized I know, I do too, we have gps coming. said above he heard from devs. cool, should be, will be, just wait, were all arguing about the Map now, lol.

Heh, while I may differ with you on some things about the game, I have to agree on the map aspect.

But first off, if you are going to have a large-scale map of the gameworld, like it is now and has been for a couple years, at least let us zoom in to look at the damn thing. That's not even an unrealistic request, it's FAR more realistic than the way it is now- ever hear of holding the map up closer to your face so you can see the tiny little features better, IRL? Mhmm, natural real-life zoom tool. Map in SCUM with no zoom = unrealistic. Map in SCUM with a zoom feature = 100% realism. Boom-score, end of story.

As for the expected 'find little map chunks all over and put them together' idea, that's a purty darn game-ey kind of thing to put in. The bad kind of game-ey, in case you wondered. Like, what, the people who lived there and left their island road maps laying around in their den or in their cars always tore off and threw away all the parts except for a couple of klicks around their house? Reeeaaally.... <eyeroll>

Just leave complete maps here and there around the towns, so the poor noobs can find one within a day or two and figure something out. And please... give us a zoom feature? Thanks.

RAWRIB Jul 1, 2020 @ 9:36pm
I concur. zoom is more an issue. could hope for towns & poi names be next? ooooooonnoooooooooooooo <face in hands sobbing>

thanks

Whats a "easy-boy yahoos" i'm in my 50's, so not hip to a lot of today's terminology?

+1 I have advocated for this a long time ago. The only thing I want is to be able to draw on your map.
