Similarly to you, i don't use the WASD system, but I use the numpad itself as my hand base for all the games I play. The shift keys and alt and ctrl keys are all hard to reach for me, so I never use them if I don't have to. Being forced to have to use any of those keys in order to perform an action, really just ticks me off.
Please, devs, stop forcing people to use keys they don't want to, for any game control actions... not everybody uses their keyboards in the same way, and we should be able to map any action we want to any key we want. Please don't assume everyone playing your game is happily clicking away with the WASD method... because some (many?) of us are not. Thanks.
i even have my black widow keyboard still illuminated to the "old" settings.
when they changed the binding for item rotation (something i waited ages for) i was no longer able to use it and that killed the game off for me. im still (a little) hopeful it will be custom keybinding soon so i can get back into some hardcore Scum its been a few months now.
all games dev's should make their their games with custom keybindings, it's "key" to making a game accessible to everyone and giving the player choice rarely go's wrong.
idk if the use of a macro is okay for something like custom controls?

Shut it down and then edit the newly generated input file.
You can try this for now. I've forwarded this thread to people in charge so they will take a look and hopefully resolve it.
See if they'll allow us to remap any keys we want to our own preferences while you're at it? Thanks :-)
Thanks, Bunny! I have been doing that fix for some time. That bug doesn't always happen. I think a cause is changing mappings in game.
For example, typically when I make a mistake or decide to try a different button to control something in the game mapping and change the mapping from one keybind to another and then that keybind won't work.
At that point even editing the input file won't work. But after I delete the input file and work with the newly generated one all is fixed.
thats the thing i love about scum: active devs! go on guys, you get this right.
btw. where is my H&K G3? XD
in the input.ini file i just changed "bShift=":
ActionMappings=(ActionName="ToggleWeaponFiringMode",bShift=True,bCtrl=False,bAlt=False,bCmd=False,Key=PageUp)
into:
ActionMappings=(ActionName="ToggleWeaponFiringMode",bShift=False,bCtrl=False,bAlt=False,bCmd=False,Key=PageUp)
now it works like i want again
