The side effect of this is it has ruined the game for some of us who play single player, and dislike the flat and washed out look of the graphics without it.
I understand the reasons for it being disabled, but some of us did not abuse it (no point in single player) and just wanted to make the game look better. Exploiters have ruined it for those like me.
Doubt I will play either mode much now.
Just change the settings on your monitor or in Gforce control panel. The filters were just a short cut.
Also, there's no way to turn off control panel.
