Spike Traps & Improvised Mines - disappearing?
Just wanted to get some clarification on how long spike traps last when placed?

I placed about 6 in my base about a week ago. Today i logged in and they had all gone, no one had removed or had been in base. do they have a decay time?

If armed they're supposed to last 15 days. If not armed they disappear like any other loot.

Thanks marktkm, both bottle mines were armed - does this also apply to pipe bombs, pressure cooker and mines?

I think if those spike traps and other traps are within a flagged area they should not decay. It's hard enough to find the material on a hardcore server but it is not easy to find all you need even on a max loot server (tested on both). If they're placed out in the wild or POI's they should decay (for obvious reasons) after a while imo but not around a flagged base

my spike traps are in a flagged area.

also, yesterday i laid 2 improvised bottle mines by a window in my base, today only one is showing. :/ both were armed too. This happened the other day as well, i just thought maybe i hadn't armed the mine and it disappeared. i'm now confused as to why they are disappearing.

Don´t they rearm with every server restart? I disarmed a pair and after the server restarted my buddy got killed by the one I disarmed before the restart.

thing is, i don't wanna spend hours gathering resources for motion sensors, laser sensors only to lay pressure cooker and pipe bombs in base only to find they just disappear after a day or so.

Can a dev maybe confirm

I've never had a restart change the state of any of my bombs/traps. I have seen a couple of threads of similar issues to yours, though.

i can understand the 15 days decay but 1 day and the improvised bottle mine disappearing baffles me.

i can lay one bottle mine but if i lay 2, one always disappears next day.

Mines are disappearing in a Few days now... not even "WORTH" looking for all the crafting ingredients to make em .

Don't have the luxury of a flag. We should be able to defend our base just as a base builder does.

True for existing map buildings, but if you build additional walls etc you still need a flag.

But.... maybe a system where it could tell from a claimed door as well as a flag (both considered "ownership") and any traps and explosives shouldn't decay. (Problem is how far the boundaries should go for a claimed door on an existing building....but they could probably set a fixed radius)

And if no claimed door(s) or a flag - they decay.

That's actually a good idea with the door claim. I was even thinking of a "mini-flag" for fortifications. I do understand though why you can't build walls and such around most buildings.

I just hope they don't implement anything that puts players that fortify at a huge disadvantage over base builders regarding defending ones "home" with explosive devices/traps.

I just want to have a chance against raiders in my city apartment.

I haven't seen this with mine. (That was a horrible pun, and I'm sorry.) Are you on an official or a private server? For that matter, is it even a server setting?

I am sorry this is happening to you. Generally traps should work as described by marktkm, if armed they should last for 15 days, otherwise they behave as other items on the floor (20 mins if no one is around). Yet we got some reports of mines disappearing to soon and are investigating what the issue is.

What you guys can do to try and help me there is following: if you suspect a trap has disappeared (but it shouldn't have) note the location of the trap (press CTRL + C while in game and it will copy your prisoner location to the clipboard so you can paste it to a text editor) and the server you were playing on. I can then try and locate your trap in our logs and see what happened with it.

Once again, I am sorry for the issues you are having and will try and resolve then ASAP!

THIS ^^ I spend weeks fining all the materials to make my city appartment save with traps, went on a trip around the island for a few days and all my traps were gone when i came home

We need a way to secure our prefab fortified buildings.
