To be fair, the devs...
also to be fair, we all know this was not added to the game yet either, so refer to the previous quote about "who cares" and add "parties still interested on knowing if this can be added"
that is all. thank you.
Simple change of code. Tie it to a switch/ignition instead of the player inside. Problem being is that possible with the vehicle models.
Leaving your car running and running out of gas should be a thing. Watching it roll down a hill because you forgot the parking brake should also be a thing. Letting the players make mistakes as they would in real life should be a thing. Or is that only for the nutrition side of the game?
Any way to turn of engine while driving? Thats a feature I’m hoping for.
+1, literally what I just said... well, kinda. I’d really love a way to turn off engine, while sitting in the car or driving. That way you can roll down a hill silently.
Another thing I’d like to be looked at is the inconsistencies in sound. You can hear a car stalling from faaaar away, but you wont even hear it drive at all. So the distance you hear the different sounds from a car does not make sense.
im not sure why you cant simply use a different seat to just sit in the car with the engine off while parked if that's your true aim in your request, being in the driver seat may be nice for a "quick" getaway but the time it takes to start the car likely gets you killed any way if the person that sees you is any kind of decent shot, so i don't see this being extremely useful, particularly when you can get out and get back in the driver seat and if you don't press "w or S" it wont start the engine thereby doing what you want any way. also you have to have a rather significant amount of points invested in driving skill for this to even work like you want, since you likely will just sputter out or stall at lower skill levels.
EDIT: nvm, i see what you mean by turning it off, you mean after it was turned on so you dont actually have to get out and back in. my bad, i misunderstood.
second im not sure if you are aware of what happens when you turn the engine off in a car these days but you lose power steering, breaks, and generally any ability to control the vehicle without extensive effort, like it was on most cars from the 70s or earlier. so yes you COULD turn it off leave it in neutral and coast but you wouldn't be able to steer or stop in any way making this useful and if you happen to hit something all of that "stealth" will be made pointless any way. also you can see cars quite a long ways off with a good eye.
i think if the game had a manual shifting mini-game while driving with a clutch this could be implemented where you can "shift to neutral" but you would still have the engine on, but you would be able to coast somewhat. also this would probably need a total rework of the skill and driving controls so this is likely not an option, for now any way.
on the sound part i completely agree that some tweaks are needed there.
