SCUM

my cpu and gpu burning?
Why does this game make my GPU and CPU fans make noises I have never heard before?
WWWUUUUUUURRRRRRRRR!!!!!
Why? It's not that intense. Are you bitcoin mining off me or something? No game, not a single game, besides this one, has forced my CPU and GPU fans to crank up to such extremes it can wake the person in the room next to me. I'm serious. This game makes my PC run hot. What's up?

You can try turning Vsync ON, that should calm things down a bit. SCUM is very system demanding and we use all the resources that we can, nothing unusual to be honest.

Guys, using a laptop to play proper video games is not the best option at all. These machines have a big limitation in order to cool down the CPU and GPU. That is why they shell a laptop base with fans for laptops.

With warm weather your laptops will get very hot and slow because temperature issues if you run demanding programs.

Buy a cooling base for your laptop or use a Pc ;) (Also with decent ventilation)

Thanks for your time

Thanks for this!
It in deed calmed my PC a lot, and I don't even notice a drop in performance!

I had same problems, resolved.
First at all you need to determine what is overheat.
My case is CPU (i5) reached 95 degrees Celsius. GPU (1070) barely reached 70 degrees.

Hence aim is CPU. Further I found native software from Intel that downvolt the CPU (this action will not affect to performance, believe me, even may increase performance because CPU will not throttle). So soft is named XTU Intel extreme tuning utility. Reduce the voltage to 0.100 - 0.150 v. I got 75-80 degrees as result (and silent laptop).

I would be glad if it helps you ) have a nice day

That's similar to mine, except that I have 32GB RAM, and my case-fan went crazy every 10 to 15 minutes.
After switching on Vsync in the the game-option it is all quiet without a noticeable performance drop.

i had v-syn on, but at 144hz refresh. i switched my monitor to 60hz, and vsynced, and turned graphics presets all to medium, and the wind tunnel effect stopped. i think it has more to do with the high FPS than anything. something really wonky going on there.

i don't really see why scum is so system demanding. its nothing special. a 20 person server requries only 8gb ram to run. why does it force your system to run so hot? its not THAT graphically intense. i can think of games with the same level or higher of complexity than scum that don't turn your hardware into an iron skillet
