How to put a lock on a door?
I have small padlocks, but the CRAFTING option is greyed out...
I have FPs to buy a lock but when I select the door there is no option...

I looked in forums but info is mostly about car locks and that's not what I need...

Thanks for any help.

But back to locks, its more expensive with fame points to claim a door for 200, then another 50-200 to put a lock on it without crafting one.
But it's cheaper to simply craft a rusty lock and insert it into the slot. Depends how much fame points you earn normally.

What kind of door are you trying to lock? One on the map or one you've built yourself?

You need toolbox to craft locks from padlocks as well, and the skill depending on which lock you want to make. I think anyone can make rusties no?

If you have the fame points to buy a lock stand in front of the door and hit TAB, then click on the + on the door and choose which lock you want to put on. This is assuming you have claimed the door, which you'll need to do first if it's an existing building door. If you made the door through base building it's already yours.

As torq said, you can craft rusty locks at start, but the silver and gold require the right skill level and a toolbox. From the patch notes:

"For medium you need 3 padlocks and for advanced you need 5

For medium lock you need medium engineering skill for advanced lock you need advanced engineering skill"

Once you make them you put them on the same way as buying them. Stand in front of door, hit TAB, move lock from inventory to the + on the door.

oh..thats a lil bug. You can do what your supposed to but it won't show the 3 black boes with the +'s in them you would see to lock it with/claim. Log in, log out and see if it'll show them afterwards.

Yah I talking about a door in a building that I claimed for 100FP...

When I go to CRAFTING, I look at the rusty lock and it shows gray like I can't do them... I have the padlock and the toolbox on me but it stays grey...

Might be a bug tho... Am confused... Will try log in log out thing...

You could also try clicking on the rusty lock in the CRAFTING menu and see if the crafting button turns yellow. It might just be a visual thing.

My engineering skill is zero, so I guess thats why the lock is greyed out and I cant male locks...

Oh well...
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

If you knew how easy they are to lockpick, you wouldnt do that. They stop people who have no lock picking from getting in, but if a lockpicker is at your door, he'll do that in 1-2 maybe 3 attempts.

And I have no idea why a developer put your post as an answer to the question.... ?
