Well if they decide to do anything with it, they should also make some cash drops, or have military bunkers with more money. I mean, why would only puppets have money now? and decayed money in any case. Still I would like to hear from a dev, what their idea is for money at this point.
At the server I play at, admins do allow you to buy stuff with the money.
But i guess most people don't care as much for trading as for griefing and pvp, wich makes it hard. But i know that private servers in other games (some) do have their own currency to trade with a price table for selling & buying goods.
Wich means that server admins could create such a list according to how rare items are and open a market. Some QOL additions for something like this would be nice though. Maybe this comes with NPC traders.
Or can you? Will it eventually disintegrate?
I don't use it at all on the PvP servers, but one of the servers I use as a chill server is a PvE one that has lots of events and the admins will let you exchange money for vehicles, and there are RP stores run both by players and the admins. Money is actually quite valuable on there, and most of the time I save it up and try and barter instead of using it. I exchange money for things that the loot tables don't drop normally like some of the unusual camo patterns in some clothes/bags, etc. I do hope they implement more uses for it, like random NPC traders or even vending machines. Both would be pretty cool. Heck if you could make an armored and protected vending machine like they have in Rust, you may be able to setup actual stores on the PvP servers. Perhaps an NPC auction in the safe zones, etc would work well as well as rental spots for players who are selling stuff. There are a lot of possiblities. Personally I'd move away from the cash idea, to a precious metals standard, with the ability to cast your own ingost by melting down some of the junk. DayZ Epoch had a system like this, where you could make tin ingots and alum ingots out of cans, and bars could be broken for smaller denominations, etc with the precious metals. That said DayZ is based upon a post apoc thing, and metals have more meaning in that setting. In SCUM everyone is trapped in a TV show.
You can always light a fire with it. It's not 100% useless!
at my server MTG we have an shop/market in safe zone that we can buy items for ingame money. like screwdrivers, food, scope etc.. but no ammo or weapon.
You are right :)
