sharpness
it may just be my eyes but is there a way too turn the sharpness down, it seems ok at close distance objects, but trees in the distance look ''dotty'' and extremely sharpened?

If you play with "Render Resolution" does it change at all?
Dann_Robb Feb 6, 2020 @ 12:08pm
tried it on 200 and still no fix :(

There is a mode to make stuff in the distance more blurred, but I forgot what the exact name of the option is. I think it's something other than Render Resolution.
Look through the video options for a name that makes sense I suppose, unless someone else can tell you the name of the setting! :steamhappy:

i think your refering too depth of field? i have that off because its a disgusting setting haha :P

That's the mode I meant! yes.
I've got it off as well but mainly for performance reasons. :steamhappy:

It does make trees in the distance look very pixely/sharp when it's turned off, but having it turned on seems equally unrealistic. it would be nice to have a mode in between.

also try tinkering with the bloom settings as these can affect rendering at distance - also, has this been a persistent problem for you since you got the game, or something that recently popped up? Just trying to distinguish whether or not it's a potentially new issue

yeah its always seemed too be there, i did google it and there is someone talking about the sharpness filter they must use but dosn't seem too be anyway to smoothen it out anymore :/ i suppose it is still early access so these things can be improved at later dates

Hated this from the beginning. This horrible eye cancer can be smoothed out a bit by using bloom. Which there was a more resource friendly alternative.

What you want is a combination of Gaussian blur or one of the bloom filters and CAS. This package is a little outdated. Instead of CAS (AMD sharpening technology) you can use one of the other sharpening tool's, or you can get it from GitHub (google ReShade CAS).

im glad you said this, atleast its not just a couple of us lol, i no with nvidia theres ALT+F3 and you can add overlays too like sharpen etc, but i dont see one that can smoothen it out more :(

In one post you say you have nvidea filters but can't find the option and one post after "Is that filter? i won't get into trouble!".

Guess i'll leave it until game has modding support. Atm such community project's are a waste of time. Too many people around who get confused from counting their own toes.

Agreed, It's just so thick by default. I genuinely believe you could damage your eyes playing with it on too long as well (Natural eye level ingame is split on a horizontal line between high definition & a immense blur, your eyes themselves already have a natural DoF from your peripheral vision while staring at your screen too.)

The devs are awesome allowing us to disable it. Some people were getting migraines. I personally couldn't even play for more than half hour without getting aches in my eyes. Only way around it was to stare at the ground most of the time.

DoF itself isn't a bad effect. I very much enjoy a dynamic DoF too. Intensity level options could help everyone find a comfortable setting. "Motion Blur" often suffers this same fate ingames, An intense blur effect is just too much for some people but, options to set a % level always helps.

Apparently not, but you are rite to wonder of such hooking into a game with an anti-cheat. These things are banned elsewhere for good reason.

With that said, reshade, ENB & such are amazing things for games! They breathe life into older games & help people customize graphics to their liking &/or performance level. I'm a big supporter of them & have been for many years, I just get weary of them with MP games knowing the abuse which is possible.

I've posted this before & will post it again...This game is still in development, if there is shaders & effects in programs like reshade, ENB you'd like to see ingame, say something.

I don't see devs contacting shader developers and ask them for usage. Neither do i see the devs re-creating them. That would be years or at least month's worth of developing and UE4 has it's own solution's for most things. But at a (sometimes much) bigger performance cost. Raytracing for example need's a GTX card and month's of machine learning to work properly. The shader (wich is still in developement but in a progressed state) can be used by everyone and uses depending on your setting's just a few FPS.

That's the newest horse in the race but not the only one.

i really can't tell if your being sarcastic or just woke up the wrong side of the bed XD, i ASKED ''is it a filter'' then questioned if ill get in trouble for messing with files with that thing you sent me... we arn't all full time modders you no, and id rather not have my account banned for using things WITHOUT atleast asking first, like the other guy said some games you can get inn trouble for using such things so i think its fair too ask, and yes nvidia do have filters but im pretty sure you wont get banned from using something THEY implicated into there drivers, not 3rd party downloads is another ball game.
