bed or shelter are in the "no skill" area
- cornfields other vegetables and fruits
- enemy bases + infos (car, traps, etc)
- icons
- buried chest
- etc
Cool idea, but I guess that the whole map would be filled with icons then ... don't see a way to implement this until the map could be zoomed out and in.

But yes, some push pins (colored) would be cool to stick on the map.
Ideally with a long needle so that the Head is not on the point

and perfect would be the option to hide chosen colors
Yes, zoom would be very good / needed!
Markers would be into types/categories: food, loot, combat, etc..
There could be some things automatic: a buried crate
Rest manually and filter: to type/category or area (B2) or even to "around" (500m, 1km, etc.)

I also think there should be two clear definitions of the map related to the game as a start.
The BCU digital 'magic map' I call it, and any maps found in the game.
Maps carried by player they can crayola all they like. Make marks wherever, zoom in with a camera lense, use it as toilet paper... etc..
If lost, so are all their scrawlings, and can be found by other players. (If despawn time doesn't get in the way). COuld be used as a trap too. Also, could be screenshotted and I have just wasted 10 minutes then... lol.
BCU map though, like as has been suggested before also, should rely on INT stat and be very limited in marking as the BCU would surely be preprogrammed and limited ... wouldn't it?
Squad leaders as you suggest could maybe set a waypoint and add a short message to it. Other Squad members could get any info marked by Squad Leader limited up to their individual INT stat and also bearing a compass. Not sure how zoom would work if within the BCU. Maybe just an extra function based on ...INT stat! lol.
Just some ideas. Though this topic has been discussed many times previously.
