Will Dedicated Server files be available for other companies to host? Would like to host it in South Africa.

Thanks for the fast response Iggy I hope this changes soon, cause once again games are leaving out a large Gaming Hub in South Africa, Ping to Europe is not always the best for us.

Yep, as much as pings are getting lower because of fibre connections, it's still a 180+ effort to other servers from here in ZA. Buying anyway. Along with about 10 of my friends. But would love a local server...

More South African players my side, PLEASE allow a host in SA to host this game. Gportal it seems doesnt host in SA leaving us with +-180/200ms ping.

That's quity iffy. Having only one host to get the servers from leaves them with a serious (complete) market advantage where you(the developer of the game) have to manually adjust the prices. Also if brings the issue that we've seen with dayz dedicated hosts that they arent all really reliable. With no other than 1 host to choose from... these kinds of incidents might really leave a bad taste in the mouth. And i doubt theyll be able to handle all the demand once the game releases... unless the prices are in the range of hundreds of dollars per month.

Lan is rare with any steam games. Ark use to be LAN playable but it seems steam gets in the way.

They have mentioned they will be releasing the server files at a later date, so expected different providers at some point in time and servers hosted by players with the hardware to do so.

Was also hoping for SA servers but we will have to wait for the Dedicated server files it seems.

It's not money. When we host official server we are losing money very fast. It's easier not to spend money on offical servers and give server files to everyone. But then it's much easier to make hacks and cheats if server files are public.

That is really unfortunate as I have always disliked game specific server hosting providers, there being only one makes it even worse. I'll probably hold out on hosting a server until (if) there's API support and server files publicly available.

Are you planning on releasing server files any time soon?

Thats idea but I can't promise when because we need some time to fix everything and try to solve some security issus if we are giving files to public. Still don't forget that we bought 50 000 offical slots.
