Why G-Portal Servers?

Don't they seem a little expensive? When I compare to example Host Havoc:

ARK 40 slots:

G-Portal = $39.60
HH = $20

Unturned 40 Slots:

G-Portal = $39.60
HH = $28

Conan Exiles 40 Slots:

G-Portal = $39.60
HH = $34

Dark & Light 40 Slots:

G-Portal = $39.60
HH = $20

RUST 50 Slots:

G-Portal = $47.60
HH = $17.50


Pretty much when they offer 40 slots, are they charging you $39.60 usd regardless if the game takes more or less resources.

So if we wanted to get a 64 slot SCUM Server, we can expect to be paying $58.80 a month since other games with 64 slots cost this much, BUT since they are the ONLY provider, they could charge even more if they wanted.... sooooo are they a personal friend of one of the developers or something? Not exactly sure why they were chosen compared to many others.

Well usually providers offer discounts for publishers/developers hosting multiple servers. Since a game like SCUM will at the very least have a minimum of 1000 servers spanned across all the available regions, probably more depending on how well the game does. It is the same as with anything else in the world, you buy/order in bulk and you'll get a discount compared to buying just 1 or 2 of said item.

So as to why G-Portal, they probably went with them because they offered the best deal compared to other providers for hosting their game.

Well in time it will get cheaper.. When more hosting companies is opening up for scum servers. Just look at ark, you could't get them everywhere either back when they released.. So same thing with SCUM - they find 1 hosting company to begin with and in time others will follow. When server files get puplic :)

I will be waiting for Server Blend to get the hosting. They hosted my ARK server for 2 years, never a problem, less than 60 second restart time.

$39 bucks/month for a game server?

Guess this game will be starving for private servers that aren't run by communities with $$$ to throw down the trash.

Our community has pulled in $4000+ as a group, while I agree Gportal is very expensive I wouldn’t say it’s throwing it into the trash as we still provide people a home where you get 0 admin abusive, a non toxic community ran by non toxic admins and fair play. We even display our donations and PayPal to the public to ensure anyone that donates that their funds get 100% used for the community.
