Bows Suck?
So just from the full day I've been trying to play with the bow, it's WHOLLY inaccurate... I sure hope with the implementation of the 'Archery' skill the accuracy will get much better because I can't even hit a zombie (Let alone an animal 2 times the size) from 15 feet away. Even beginners IRL aren't this inaccurate.

Hey!
They are gonna work on archery more in depth in the future. Right now theres some priorities.
Be patient! It's gonna be good.

yup, low range attack

Press ENTER for first person view, use the little white dot to aim, and depending on range, raise the white dot up to account for arrow drop (gravity). Hold the left mouse button down until the bow is fully ♥♥♥♥♥♥, then release. I can hit zombies in the head from about 70 feet. In the body from 100 feet. And the best part is zombies do not respond to getting hit from an arrow at range. They just stand there waiting for another arrow until they are dead. Cheap, quiet zombie killer.

@:Knight takes quite a bit of practice but OP is right and their's no denying.

as @Rulezz said you have to get pretty close to the point they can notice you, sure you can waste arrows from a longer distance but the accuracy isn't great unless you practice waaay too long, the bows range right now isn't exactly realistic,

if you have to get close then you may aswell stick to a spear, i mean an arrow should fly further than the spear and that's not the case, least not as accurate as the spear (sure you have aim assist with the spear but still)

Hopefully Archery skill is out this friday.

Bow is HORRIBLE. Found composite one, made arrows. I WASN'T ABLE EVEN TO KILL THE ZOMBIE.

If it's accurate while in First Person then I can see the appeal, otherwise it feels pretty useless.

The re-curve bow is awesome! With a little practice, ranged head shots are common place. I've only used the home made arrows, haven't found any of the good ones. Unfortunately lost my re-curve in a disappearing box, so I'm looking hard for another one. Peace out.

I'm quite good with the bow. I can silently one shot zombies. Really like the bow, but you do have to practice. The biggest thing I learned, was not to rapid shoot. You can't fire, and then quickly fire again, your arrow goes flop. You have to pause between shots. Use 1st person view too. But I thought the bow was crappy after first. It's a cool silent killer when you know how to use it.

Are you shooting wooden arrows? It's just a stick of wood carved to a point; how accurate can it be? I haven't tried the carbon arrows, but I used a recurve with wooden arrows and it seemed reasonable to me, as far as accuarcy is concerned. I hope the carbon arrows are far superior because they have fletching and are straight.

The wooden arrows are pretty accurate. I've only found one carbon arrow but I haven't used it yet. Recurve bow with wooden crafted arrows.

This is correct.

The Improvised Bow is made from a STICK and rope from TREE BARK! It isn't supposed to be shooting like a rifle bullet.

If you stand in the exact same spot and do not move the moujse at all and shoot several arrows into a tree or building, you will see them group really tightly. The bow is absurdly accurate for a stick and bark string bow.

The Recurve now that it is fixed it quite a bit better in that it shoots faster arrows with a flatter trajectory.

The new bows on the horizon will be even faster and higher draw weights. New arrows will shoot better.

Remember that this first bow is just that a first bow made from a stick and some bits of crafted rope. Compare that to what you would get in real life if someone gave you a stick and some tree bark and said, make a bow.

I like the fact that we start out with what we have and will be getting better and better bows over time. It is nice to be able to craft up the starter Improvised Bow from a few bits of a bush, and always have a nice ranged weapon in a few minutes for a new spawn or new puppet.

p.s. I have saved all my carbon arrows - doh! I should just use them!!!

carbon or wooden, arrow dond have difference, said the developers, the difference is only in the durability of the arrow

The bows more accurate if there is less range nearest I can tell. One to the head should do the job too so don't miss lol

If you need some practice lure some Z's to a window and jump in then you can practice that aim on the closer in ones.

I was more put off by my 1st gun. After finding tons of ammo for guns I do not have, and several guns lacking mags, I finally found a 12 gauge shotgun for the shells I had been carrying around for ever. IMHO the shots I took from close range in no way could have missed, yet a good 6 of 8 hit nothing despite the target being inches from my barrel. That needs serious work still. Not being abort to hit a target a foot away with a shotgun is beyond anything related to stats.

All shooting needs to be done from first person if you want accuarcy.
Over the shoulder aiming is next to useless, thats why cross hair is always red at close range.
Spears are fine first or Third due to the aim assist arc thing.

Point balnk with a shot gun? General direction should suffice......
