I'm going to keep this short: Can we get an option to disable the black corners on NVGs? Arma 3 had these same sort of corners and they made me dizzy and nauseous after a short while.
I can imagine for people with claustrophobia this would be even more of an issue, but for me this makes night time already unplayable at this point. I do love the dark nights, and I'm fine with the new NVG rendering, but I am unable to play with those black corners.
There are some changes to the NVG that needs to be made, but those are more like blurring at distance and not being able to see through water and stuff like that. I think the FoV should decrease as well, but having the cone of shame isn't useful imo. The reality of this sort of stuff is that it doesn't matter what its like in real life. It only matters that everyone in game is getting the same sort of experience and making the mechanic useful while still being balanced.
I'm not sure how you would "fix" the NV in 3rd person. It should limit the FoV (same as 1st person) but other than that what would you even suggest? A green cone in the dark? No NV at all? These choices would feel really bad. Is it realistic that you would see everything around you? No, but its also not realistic that you are seeing yourself from behind either so that seems like a dumb reason to change it.
Hopefully you read this. Hugs from Lima, Peru! :)
At 5 minutes in the video dude is showing us what his pvs7s (in game model) are capable of. Model I used a lot in the beginning of my service. There is a lot of light pollution from the sun coming over the horizon, what looked like car headlights and likely even more from his house if he didn’t kill the lights. If he was in a forested area at 2am there would be a significant reduction in capability.
At 5:27 open field 1:30 am, fox at 40 meters deer at 70 meters, you would not be able to make out a target in the wood line, the deer in fox are in a open field, in a wooded area they would be even harder to spot. This is why the the in game night vision nerf was needed, and it’s probably still more powerful than it should be. Everything should be blurry past 75 meters like Dregor said considering the generation of optic in game to keep it simple. If the devs wanted to go for realism than 40 meters to blur in the forest areas. I have been on a break from video games, but I’m super excited this change has been made, even if the color is off.
Good video, that short clip of the deer and fox is the most realistic picture of what the in game optic is capable of in real life.
Hopefully the devs will get to use the night optics when they do more work with their military.
I do agree nvgs should be third person only
Thing thats cool is the images are all different quality for each nvg device. Monoculars, cyclops goggles, 4 eyeed goggles, new and old scopes.
All of them look or function better or worse, it's like real life already came in and balanced everything for us as long as your ok with reality you should be alright.
