I usually find them while wandering around the forest. Sometimes even on the open field.
Met like 4 chickens today.

I've seen and killed ONE, as Winter_Fritz said, in the NW.
Pretty sure it was close to a lonely house/shed with a small vinyard.
It appears to give you the same 3 pieces of meat on a skewer, though, not specifically chicken (yet?).

EDIT: Top left corner of C3 is the house/shed/vinyard, I believe.

Do you need 'chicken' or do ou need 'egg' because I have found eggs by walking near chicken coops... and just open inventorye

I hunted down a bear, a goat, and a chicken on the way from the train yard to the dam a few hours ago. All the animals are out in the middle of nowhere for the most part. You'll need a decent awareness skill to track them if they run off (hold right click and you can see/examine tracks on the ground and clear ambient noise so you can listen for them). Sometimes you have to follow them for a few minutes before they bleed out and collapse.

The death cluck the chicken yells when a spear goes through it is very satisfying, found and killes 2 so far in woods.
