Bullet spread and shotgun distance needs to change, sniped at like 200m with a shotgun

Sounds close to reality though.

have you ever shot a shotgun in reallife?
its no problem to shoot right on point up to 200m
shotgun with buckshot is lethal up to 200 meters
shotgun shot with a slug is lethal up to 400 meters.
Yeah, 200m is nothing , I seen people bag deer with a shotgun at that distance. But ammo does contribute to that.

Sounds right, but it isn't, I would love to see a shred of evidence that 00buck will hit 200m and be even remotely lethal, because it wont.

Nope, and I don't need to shoot one, it takes a fraction of second to actually look for evidence! Couldn't find any :')

With the right choke you can have a basketball sized spread of pellets going near the speed of sound @ 100 meters. Sounds a bit deadly to me. Wear armor. Pellets SUCK at penetrating compared to high sectional density rifle projectiles.

What evidence were you looking for exactly? I can type all the figures in a ballistic calculator and see @ 200 meters 00 buck would still have ~650fps of velocity. That's still plenty lethal. To put that into perspective, that's about the equivilent of a .22 short fired from a pistol length barrel at point blank. Certainly nothing to brag about against .30-06, you get hit in the right place and/or by 9 pellets, it's going to do some damage.

Wear armor... Pellets wont penetrate much, especially at those velocities.

First, we're assuming your range estimation is correct at 200m, and that it wasn't more like 100m or 75m.

Admittedly, there are few, if any, tests of buckshot lethality outside 100m, though the ones I was able to find demonstrate a (obvious) wide pattern - though a wide pattern does not necessarily mean less lethality, as demonstrated by this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxymVClJVhU

Even at 100m, a buckshot round striking a vital area could most certainly be lethal.

Past 100m, a slug is obviously the better option when using a shotgun, but it can reach way past 200m and retain lethality: https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2016/07/13/a-12-gauge-shotgun-will-kill-how-far/

Now, I'm not saying that you're lying, but the burden of proof is on you to produce evidence to your claim that you were killed by a shotgun at 200m, not for others to disprove your claim.

My thoughts exactly. We're working on the assumption that it was 200m.

Really? because i droped a bear with two shots from the hunter 55. either buff the bears or nerf the hunter.

What the shotgun needs is different types of ammunition. This is the biggest advantage to a shotgun in real life. Lets see slugs and buckshot not just "12 Gauge Ammo" Let me pick off a puppet at 75 meters with slug and then load up buckshot for close range panic.
From someone who does shoot 12 gauge, any 100m shot with a shotgun is basically luck unless there is a slug and a rear sight on the weapon.

I can appreciate this argument.

Also... aren't .22 cals basically BB guns anyways? lol

I was just about to type this. Having 00 Buck and Slugs would be nice. Something I hope to see "Soon^tm"

nahhh man, me and my friends tried playing deathmatch using only shotgun to kill each other
the effective range i would say for a 1 hit kill is 10-15 meters anything beyond that is not even reliable
i mean maybe if u get hit in the head with a pellet in 200 meters probably? but thats unlikely
