it's not that. they need to have more of them but not be able to sprint like the player can, if you don't have a gun or decent melee weapon you're screwed.

Ammo it is a waste on them, it attracts more zombies by the gun fire and can take a lot of shots, specially the fat zombies.

It is better melee weapon or ignore them by crouching.

its not hard at all to kill zombies with knifes, and other weapons even blunt objects

SVD with a rail and hunting scope at maximum range, They can only hear a certian distance. And i noticed using the Kar 98 at a distance they run to where the bullet impact's a puppet or ground and not towards me

spears - long range throws.
2 to kill the average zombie, up to 5 to kill the fat ones. I usually cut down a bush and make a bunch laying around me, then pick them off from a distance. Hold left mouse to thrown things.
