RIP SCUM on Linux using SteamPlay (new Proton based on Wine)
Last patch killed SCUM on Linux... Probably EAC killed SCUM on Linux...

The SCUM developers had to look at that with EAC before implementing it.
And now they should press EAC to solve it.
Or put an alternative, such as servers without the use of EAC for Linux players.

So you can afford a $2500 machine but not a proper gaming platform :steamfacepalm:

It's all about the "see me...I'm intelligent....I run Linux" phychological defect. Like little girls with new dresses.....they must be noticed. I see there are at least 3 here.

Real intelligence would allow you to see the game as an "ea" title and know that during development things may go wrong.... Sounds like one just did. In a month you may have something to complain about.

The game in not advertised to work under Linux. But it is advertised as a SP game......and that don't work. So they better fix the SP before fixing any unadvertised broken aspect of the game.

You are aware you can run Linux and windows right? Just load which platform you want to use. Not Rocket science. Sorry to burst your bubble but majority of games are designed for Windows platforms mainly because it uses the software that supports them

Some people use linux because they host other services and servers on their main machine that work best on a linux machine. There's nothing wrong with being a linux user or a windows user, I don't understand that attitude. The dude asked a simple question and people are blindly attacking him for having a different OS lol..

Looks like it's definitely EAC

https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/519

There's a fix in this one that might be worth a shot (It's not very easy to figure out though):

One way to fix this but possibly breaking one way of detecting Wine is to export 'wine_get_unix_file_name()' by ordinal using '-noname' in the .spec file (using non-Windows allocated ordinal). I've tested this method and the client EAC module is properly downloaded.

Not super familiar with wine so not sure how much I could help troubleshoot this one. I can likely do some tests on a linux machine to figure this out sometime today if that solution doesn't work.

Ignore the :steamsalty: and stay on topic so we can try and get it working.

Firstly I would like to point out that the game is not native for linux but I do get where you are coming from as I want to abandon Windows soon with the advancement of Steams Proton support. It is unfortunate but it's not only this game that is affected and the implementation of Anti-cheat software is more a thing to put over to the Steam guys developing Proton or to the anti-cheat developers such as Battleeye and ezee anti-cheat.

For public servers running the anti-cheat software you just would not get on the server even if there were and option to turn EAC off like there is in 7Days to Die.

I'm be booting up my previous linux gaming rig and looking into a solution, I'll let you know if I get it working.

Linux Sep 2, 2018 @ 2:10pm
