cant light fire

i have the improvised fire place already made and on the ground, i have tinder, and have a lighter in my hand, when i right click on the fireplace the option to light it is greyd out.

Staring fire in this game is the most infuriating thing in the world. it takes like a half hour for it to figure out what you want it to do.

I made a post about this. It took a 7 min youtube video to show how to do it, which should be telling enough. That said, i don't think some of the parts actually work to start a fire as they are supposed to. Stick to making a fire starter out of 2 long wood sticks and a rock knife.

you have to hjighlight you lighter or other means of lighting it then right click the fire place. :)

guys i figured it out, you have to select your lighter/matches first( when they turn red ) and then right click the fire and light fire, so intuitive.........,

put lighter in Vicinity, then click on campire > Light

After further experimentation, the ability to light fire is based on your survival skills. Example: i made a campfire today, made the fire drill, selected the drill while it was in my inventory (making it red) and held F on the campfire to bring up the option to Light it. The option was greyed out. I glanced at my Survival Skill and i hadn't yet made it to the Basic level. So i proceeded to craft and chop my way until i leveled the skill. Sure enough, the second i leveled it, i was able to light the fire.

I noticed in this game that wooden box needs more survival skill than firedrill...
