why can i not light a candle with my lighter?

I have a lighter in my hand and the candle sitting next to me, why can i not light the candle. CRAFTING NEEDS REWORKING

ok, figured it finally, candle must be in hands, then select, then light fire. so i hold the candle not the lighter. yeah, this is not intuitive enough crafting, i suspect in the future it will be changed. I am unable to craft just about anything and I cannot find planks to make a box with to store my stuff. without storage this game is not long for playability. Please adjust the storage or put the ability to store things into cabinates or crates so we can actually live in a house.

planks - chop large tree logs - tree logs - chop down larger trees (there are thin trees you can chop that give lots of sticks but no big logs )

Highlight the candle on the ground and the ligher/match or flint and steel and it will give you option to light it
