It would however not really fix the issue you have described. Player characters may be rendered later during night time but the player with high brightness will still have an easier time spotting any player that has been rendered.
Another player in the same situation whose screen is much darker would still be at the very same disadvantage as before. Simply changing render distance really doesn't nullify that issue.

They show a guy lying infront of you that will only be displayed based on skills. Sounds good on paper, but ofcourse it is not good for gameplay.
WoT has the same mechanic and it works good. It's still better than seeing a guy 1km away in full ghille just because grass doesn't render that far and the player on the other side has the grass all around him and doesn't see a thing because of that. Thats just unfair and this mechanic evens it out. We will see how it works in reality ofc but i wouldn't make a such tragedy of it.
In scum you die with the first hit (as far as I know).
