Fame Points & Death

I have read about how death is permanant and you lose all stats if you don't have enough fame points to clone/revive your dead character. So my question is what exactly are "Fame Points" and how do you obtain them?

until we make Fame points fully operations, all respawns will be for "Free". This means you will not lose anything. Once Fame points start to work you will have to spend Fame to be respawned. Now if you lose all your fame then you will not lose your character but you will have to wait for awhile to be respawned (and your fame will become negative value probably so you will have to make sure you play better to restore it - this is just an idea that we have to test to see how it works). If you keep on dying then you will have to wait longer and longer to play with the same character, but you can create a new one and start playing instantly. This way we would like to "motivate" players to try to keep their characters alive as long as possible.

this tells us what they are for but not how to get them, so can you tell us how?

There are two ways how you can get them, the easiest way is to participate in TV show events, but you can also get them in the survival part of the game simply by staying alive, crafting stuff etc. Since Scum is a TV show it is logical that more viewers will watch bloody TV show games and reward players with fame but there will be people interested in watching plain survival too in a bit smaller numbers though.

Slightly worried about that crafting method of getting fame points. Care for mechanics which allow people to grind out collecting rocks to craft into stone knives. Even if it's a one-time thing it won't be much fun thinking about collecting things to craft just to get bonus fame points. It would be preferable to have it solely on survival time as this is another incentive to live.
