Is it confirmed that there will be a complete wipe (personally i just care about the boxes) with the upcomming base building / inventory rework patches?
Can please any "Developer" here confirm or deny ?

Full wipe is planned for near future. No details when exactly yet.

They try to avoid them, so unless there's a real need (like an updated inventory system not working with existing chests/characters) I doubt it.

they already mentioned a full wipe with next big patch - the new item handling i guess. So the question is if it's gonna be this week

They will let you know prior (if there even is a patch this week)

Best not to expect a patch every week that way your not disappointed :)

I am disappointed because we have not had a full wipe for months!

This friday it is my knowledge 3 months ago since the roadmap started and we still have not got a really big feature from the roadmap.

At the moment, on servers where much is played, almost every door is locked.
The door locks do not expire either, the door locks of players who do not play anymore are still there. On servers where over 20,000 players are registered, just about every city is locked.

The cars also spawn in the locked garages and squads are now beginning to claim all garages with 3 rusty locks. It is very hard to find a car at the moment.

The screwdrivers and lock picks are sometimes so rare that you can hardly crack anything. (It also costs fame points now)

At the moment scum is really a game for unemployed people who can play all day / night.
You can easily be raided at any time of the day by people who have enough time to run around the map for hours to collect screwdrivers and lockpicks.
And we still do not have raid times.

The developers should really put their whole development into the female charackter and the new inventory / hud for the moment. These are the main features that other features need to build on. Then they should finish the basebuilduing.

And I can already imagine what happens when the base construction comes. Everyone will fenced his place/city so that you have less and less pleading to loot.

Please development team no base building in towns and on roads.
It is best to remove the fortification system from the game world as well.
The cities should be there for the loot and not because every squad turns them into a fortress.

At the moment I'm done with scum. It just does not make sense to play at the moment.

I have the idea a full wipe will come with females, so people will not have to struggle with the decision to erase a dear months char to switch to a female one starting from scratch.

For the base building/fortification concerns...
Its some times now that I hear less complains about raiding, so maybe they reach the goal to make fortified house more safe.

If yes, and even first to see traps to come, maybe we should begin to see the addition of some real form of ''maintaining'' cost.
For example degradation on locks, that make it decrease a step back (eg. gold to silver) if not maintained with something (dont know, oil, new metal scrap, new padlock or whatever) in addition of some Fames cost, for example each lock/chest may cost a due amount of fames per game day ecc.

For example we could start with 1 fames/day for each lock/chest...an house with 2 doors, best safeness, 5 chests we are already 11 fames/day.
Do you want to have your personal 40 chests stashed somewhere...ok its 40 fames each 6 hours to gain only for that, good luck!!!

All this to limit the number of doors/chests a single player can be able/willing to deal with, without forcing a strict limitation in number, that can be a bad idea imo.

And yes definitely I hope they will make the right amount of limitations with palisades and thing like that when base building will come to us.
Limitation in number, extent, allowed places ecc!

I would imagine there could/will be a "form" of wipe with any major implementation of a big feature.

I.e. females, base building, AI, Big optimisation changes

Yes of course I think so too. That's why it means we will not get anything big again this week.
Just a new weapon and maybe a new location. (And maybe head explosition but nothing that really needs the game now)

Of course you hear less people complaining, they have made it harder from patch to patch because they have no idea how to balance it.

At the moment, it is almost impossible for solo players to crack the door locks, unless one is unemployed and can play 24/7

It is impossible to bring the thievery skill to a maximum with a new charackter who has no skill.
You would need thousands of lockpicks, screwdrivers and fame points at the moment. Do you know how long that would take in the current game? Hundreds of hours of play.

Anyone who makes a new character should set the thievery skill and driving skill to maximum. These two skills are just not well balanced. Players with a high driving skill can catch people with a low skill because they can drive faster. What shoud that ? The driving skill should affect the handling and not the maximum speed.

Emh, no they made it more and more difficult exactly for the contrary, because they know how to balance it, and because community ask for that.

I personally give them videos about people I caught on streams breaking 6 gold lock in minutes, and things like that... this had to be stopped (and I have not even have a base at the moment).

None the less we should start to think the other side too.
Big stash should need big maintenance/cost.

Exactly.
Put that Thievery bar all on the right if you want to be a thief.
Or that Driving one if you want to be a pilot.

You cant be an ace on everything in this game, and it have to stay this way imo!!

I'm all for adding maintenance to the locks to help with the situation of people locking a house and leaving the server. The same timer that's on the chests works for me. Preferably with the use of one door of a house acting as the reset for all the doors of that house. And active player and the lock stays. A dead player and the lock goes poof.

As for having to use materials for maintenance I can see that, but the amount would have to remain small. Otherwise all everyone will be doing is trying to collect for their maintenance, and we're back to where we were before fortifications and everyone complaining about not being able to stash things.

I'm against getting rid of the fortifications. I loved the concept when they announced it in favor of base building. It keeps the map from becoming like almost every Rust server, with behemoths all over the map. I'd rather see them make non-houses un-claimable. That would prevent locking down the practical parts of entire towns. And when they introduce the urban assets the number of possible places to make a base will jump, also easing the lock down on busy servers.

This can't be done. They can't take the 3d modeler and put him on programming the inventory. Or the sound engineer on the female character. Or the server code engineer on the hud. Different people with different skills. I wish they would make a sticky regarding this idea.

And everyone has a different idea of what they should do first.

It's all coming. It's just going to take time.
