trapped in a bunker?
So last night I went into a bunker. I only could see one main entrance that was being guarded by a mech that had a very short patrol path mostly right in front of the door. It didn't seem likely I could get in by utilizing it's patrol path so I lured it away and then used cover to run around to the door before it could return.

I may have outsmarted myself because once inside I realize there is no other way in (or out) of this bunker which means I don't think I can get out without dying to this mech since I can't lure it way from the door again from the inside.

Is there always multiple ways out of a bunker and I just couldn't find it or am I just missing some tactic to escape that I'm unaware of or is it the game design that some bunkers are just meant for you to die in because..haha game devs are trolls or what?

Sometimes there's a ladder at the back of bunkers, but usually near the other mech. If the mech guards the front, just wait for it to turn it's back and job (not run) to behind a rock or tree. Then can't hear you when you job. I has the same issue a few weeks ago where it done a very small triangle patrol at the front door, and bad a mech at the back. Just timing really. Good luck.

I was wondering if there are any other techniques. For instance, I only recently discovered the rock throwing diversion for puppets. I was at an airfield and trying to get inside and dodge mechs but there was a puppet near the fence opening I wanted to deal with first. I threw a rock between me and the puppet to attract him closer to me and OOR of the mech so I could kill it safely.

Can you use similar tactics with mechs? Like if I waited for it to path to one side and then threw a rock even farther away would it walk towards the rock sound giving me a wider berth to escape?

Yes, Mechs react to rocks, or anything else thrown as well, but they break off sooner than the puppets.

I think mech turning animations need to be slower.

When on alert they just spin and shoot. It's not that easy at the moment.

I am finding at usual bunkers I am getting shot more than usual where as prior I could even sneak in without even alerting a mech.

You could always have a look a BLUF Gaming YouTube channel. He's got pretty good entry/exit videos on all the bunkers. The info is a little bit out-dated now, but still great videos. He should show any alternate exits for the bunker you are in.

EDIT: Don't follow his C2 bunker tutorial. The other entrance is WAAAAAY easier.

True.

Also, bunkers mostly have two entrances. Either two "big" gates or one "big" gate and one (more or less) hidden hatch.

You guys are correct. There was a hatch with a ladder that I missed initially. The door was the easier option. It actually ended up being really easy. Not sure if the mech was bugged or if the patrol has some random variable to stop and "rest" for a while but it moved to the left and was looking away and didn't seem to ever continue it's patrol so I just ran out to the right unmolested.

Try to distract the mec with a granade or flash near by he will be forced to change his path and see what is it then you can move... i did that once and it worked prety well as long he dont target you when you trow it...

Glad you figured it out - usually there's a way to coax them away, but it's still annoying.

I've also found that just waiting a few minutes is enough to let the mech return to it's standard patrol, especially if there's more than 1 in the area. They appear to try to sync their patrol patterns to be somewhat predictable, so I'm guessing this issue has something to do with resetting that synchronization when they're thrown off by something....mech 1 pauses while mech 2 gets back into position, or something along those lines. This appears to take several passes to self correct sometimes.
