Singleplayer or multiplayer ? Can you tell me which axe in particular are you reffering to ? Quite possible that it was spawned by a server admin if on a private server.
If not stored in a container then it's normal for items to despawn. It should be around 30 minutes for items to despawn, they will not despawn if a player is in a 100 - 200 m radius.
Multiplayer. It’s the big axe, the 8 slot one.
For single player, I'd seriously doubt it, given that it wouldn't be running off of a dedicated server's time. Unless it uses the system's clock. I play multiplayer, but there have been times where I've logged in fully healed, and other times my health is still low, so I'm not sure what continues on once you log out. that's an interesting question.
For multiplayer, it would remain with the server's time. If it is a private server, those numbers might change if despawned items are controlled by the same variables in charge of loot spawn probability (which Bunny did mention that 100m-200m radius, so I'm assuming so).
