How do I save my game? (probably a really stupid question)

I am a very new player... every time I quit the game, when I have logged back in, it has made me spawn from scratch... today I managed to raid a military base, and have some very good gear that I do not want to lose... how do I save the game? Do I have to build a chest and store everything in it?

The Game saves automatically but you have to join the same Server as before.
Go into your Options and set the Server you are on as a Favorite.
When you then go into the Server Browser you will find it in your Favorites and you can rejoin with all your Stuff.

Try to load a game instead of starting a new one ^^

ohh, items on the ground disappear, if that was your real question.

No such thing as a 'Really stupid question' in my book pal...just Ignorant 'Stupid Answers' (no offense intended to anyone)...as for Saving...Its a "Alpha Game" not a "Beta" and Apha means to "Start" or "Begin" (Scum)....so when it becomes a "Beta" and won't need Updating/Bug Fixing...and not Constant RESETING of Scum...(yep...more on the way I'm betting) there will Prob. be Saves too?...So ...dont get Too Attached to anything yaa do ON this game yer please?

I've only played the game 3 times before... but each time it has made me create a new character - this is my 4th time playing, and I am still alive... and have lots of military stuff... I do not want to start over from scratch again... Do I need to just "exit" the game, or do I need to commit suicide?

When you start the game up and you're at the main menu, if you choose Single Player or Multiplayer, it will likely start a new character. You want to use Continue to return to the server and character from before.

It's planned for later but for now, you can only host by renting a server from g-portal
