Crossplay with Xbox?

Hi, I have a friend who is wanting to play this game with me and he wants to know if he can buy it on Xbox and still play it with me on Steam. Will crossplay be supported?

(I mean I'm kind of expecting no since that seems pretty hard to implement, but just wanted to make sure)

It says this in the FAQ

Does the game have cross-play between consoles, or the ability to transfer save data?
Nope, sorry. This would have been really difficult to pull off as an indie dev.
