i Re-Logged into Steam and Lost all of My Units And Factions
For Some Reason it Saves The Stuff you Got From The Workshop Way Better Than your Stuff:steamfacepalm:, i Still Have The Community Things But Lost Like 200 Units, This is Pretty annoying So you Should Make The Saving a Bit Better So This Doesn't Happen To Anyone Else

Sorry to hear that you lost so many units. Custom content like units and factions are not are not included in the cloud save. This is because custom content has the potential to create very large files - whereas cloud saves are usually limited in size.

Custom content can be transferred manually (the files are located in the game installation folder > TotallyAccurateBattleSimulator_Data > CustomContent), or through the workshop.

Thanks For The Help, Also i Found a Glitch To Get More Than 5 Abilitys, you Give The Unit 4 Abilitys Then Add another Except Left Click and Right Click and it Gives you Two, That Brings it To Six Where you Can Just Keep adding More until it Fills The Screen

What if I would like to transfer my custom content from a Mac to a PC? is that possible?

You can transfer your custom units by uploading them to the in-game workshop on your Mac, and then download them on your PC.

You can also transfer the files manually. I'm not sure if it's the same on Mac, but try the following: Right-click on TABS in your Steam Library > Manage > Browse local files > TotallyAccurateBattleSimulator_Data > CustomContent

Copy the "CustomContent" folder from the Mac and transfer it to the PC, it should be put it in the same location.

Beth,I think you should make it so that the extra abilities should be a feature or just leave it in. Everyone likes it

Hi, I know this thread is a bit old but I just stumbled across this discussion trying to help my son as all the units and factions that he created are gone.

I work in IT and we wiped and reinstalled Windows 11 on his PC just before the beginning of the school year. We backed up all of his saved data, profile, etc, but it is very rare these days to see saved data for any application save in it's own Program Files directory.

This being said, if you are unable to save this information in the cloud area, can you please have a rethink for the PC game and store your saved data under the user profile and maybe under My Documents? That way it has more of a chance to be backed up on a PC rebuild or could even backup to Onedrive if the My Documents is associated? This would be a better solution.

Unfortunately for me, i have had to apologize to a very disappointed 12 year old and explain why i am unable to get his information back that he had worked so hard to setup. Now all he wants to do is delete the game and no longer play it.

I'm really sorry to hear that your son lost his units and hard work. I'll forward your feedback to the team.

For future reference, keep a backup of the CustomContent folder to make sure the units etc. are not lost (\...\Steam\steamapps\common\Totally Accurate Battle Simulator\TotallyAccurateBattleSimulator_Data\CustomContent).

It is also possible to upload the units to the in-game workshop in order to save them online (and then re-download them later).

There is a bug in the game where if you download a modded unit from the workshop and you don't have the required mods for it, then your game can get bugged and your custom content becomes invisible.

If you have downloaded a modded unit recently, try the steps here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/508440/discussions/0/3712685279015117342/

You may also have to remove the unit manually from the game files with these steps:
  1. Right-click on TABS in your Steam Library > Manage > Browse local files > TotallyAccurateBattleSimulator_Data > CustomContent > CustomUnits.
  2. Inside CustomUnits there should be one folder for each unit that you've created/downloaded, with a picture of the unit inside the folder. Find the unit you wish to remove and delete its folder.
