Having the latest drivers is usually a good idea, so I'm surprised going back to 2022 drivers helped you out. Have you tried the 572.42 from Feb 13,2025, they look to be compatible with the 1080ti still ?
If you run into the issue again, you could try launching the game in safe mode first from the launcher. Close the game then relaunch again and set your settings as you want them.
1. Install latest Nvidia Drivers: 572.42
2. Once done, Launch Ashes and press Play Safe Mode
3. Stop, and restart it and put the game in DX11 mode and set you other settings
See what happens.
1. Free Antivirus scans, in this order:
a. Adwcleaner (uninstall it once you're done with that scan)
b. Malwarebytes (refuse the trial when installing it, uninstall it once you're done scanning)
c. Make sure you have no Antivirus software installed except the default from Windows
2. In an elevated command prompt run:
a. DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
b. sfc /scannow
As explained in more detailed here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system-files-79aa86cb-ca52-166a-92a3-966e85d4094e
Makes sure you are using the latest drivers from Nvidia.
It's also possible that the mighty 1080Ti is finally giving up; if it runs fine in other games though it's probably fine.
