As for range increase i dont think it fits in the theme of the game, maps are not that big, and you have to be clever on where to put that gun. And its truly a team gun as you cant really use it solo beside on static targets and doing some maths when checking azimuth, you WILL need a teamate to use it efficiently.
So far with my squaddies, even if we like the howitzer we now prefer mortars as those are more accurate and allow a lot of tactical flexibility (mobility).
Hopefully (or sadly, depends on the side :p ) most people doesnt know how to use both howitzer & mortars leading in a waste of shells. Shell rains cant be spammed, when we do mobile mortar squad, its more or the less 1-2h farming for 10 min usage (when undisrupted by either the ennemy or noobs trying to tk you to get the mortar for themself, already happened to me twice, needless to mention i killed those "friendly" bast ards back... :/ )
That's exactly why I'd like to see Howitzers range increased a bit. Maybe even another 50m would be fine because, as you said, the maps are small. But as it stands they are useless when you can just use a highly mobile Mortor instead.

Heck no arty is already king. The counters people have mentioned kindly in this thread would become more ineffective the further back it goes.
I guess we have different playstyles because I spend most of my time building up towns as a CE. So I see a lot more arty. Once they have arty focused with enough shells, its generally game over for that town. Just honestly what i've seen, constant bombardment once it starts is not uncommon until they work their way to the TH.
you know, you can edit your posts so that there aren't 4 notifications for each sentence you write...
Wonder why it takes like 12 shells from a Howitzer to take out a TH and why it only takes like 2 to 4 shells with a Field Artillery?
