Counters to Artillery?
Seeings as strong defenses are the counter to an infantry attack, artillery is needed, it has a roll, but what counters artillery?

I usually say a strong tank push counters artillery, if you can get one coordinated and if you even have tanks. How do you guys counter artillery, when its well defended and shelling your defenses from afar. What strategies do you have, just mass push and hope you can push them out of range?

It'd be nice to have a hard counter, paratroopers, snipers, air raids, anything that can reach the enemy artillery and knock it out of the fight. I know all of these have other issues the minute I type them, no need to remind me, I am grasping at ideas.

As for range increase i dont think it fits in the theme of the game, maps are not that big, and you have to be clever on where to put that gun. And its truly a team gun as you cant really use it solo beside on static targets and doing some maths when checking azimuth, you WILL need a teamate to use it efficiently.

So far with my squaddies, even if we like the howitzer we now prefer mortars as those are more accurate and allow a lot of tactical flexibility (mobility).

Hopefully (or sadly, depends on the side :p ) most people doesnt know how to use both howitzer & mortars leading in a waste of shells. Shell rains cant be spammed, when we do mobile mortar squad, its more or the less 1-2h farming for 10 min usage (when undisrupted by either the ennemy or noobs trying to tk you to get the mortar for themself, already happened to me twice, needless to mention i killed those "friendly" bast ards back... :/ )

That's exactly why I'd like to see Howitzers range increased a bit. Maybe even another 50m would be fine because, as you said, the maps are small. But as it stands they are useless when you can just use a highly mobile Mortor instead.

The forward observer is forced to take risks as binos have +-85m viewrange so (and i do the role sometimes for my squaddies) he's forced to take risks especially on some open maps.

Not that easy to find this person . Unless you also have a binoc .

Usually forward observer stays behind the frontline .

In my experience it's been mortors that dominate the field, not howitzers.

Just honestly what i've seen, constant bombardment once it starts is not uncommon until they work their way to the TH.

I've seen the same situations, but mortors are much more commonly used amongst experienced players over howitzers. One is mobile, one is not, and they both do the same thing.

Not sure why people use Howitzers to take out defenses and structures when the Field Artillery is is meant to take out defenses and structures while Howitzers are for infantry.

Wonder why it takes like 12 shells from a Howitzer to take out a TH and why it only takes like 2 to 4 shells with a Field Artillery?
