So, how did this game do, sales-wise?
Just wondering, I really wish this game was/is a financial success for Ice-Pick-Lodge, are there any info on how it actually turned out financially so far?

There's been fairly convincing speculation that sales haven't been great, but IPL haven't posted any official comments on the matter since the game's release yet. At this point, it's anyone's guess how and even if the remaining two characters will be released.

According to https://steamspy.com/app/505230, Pathologic has sold roughly 20000 - 50000 copies. This means they've made about 490,000 to 1,225,000 USD from Steam Sales. I have not checked the sales from other sites, but I think its a safe bet those are peanuts in comparison.
Considering development started in 2014, and was supposed to release in 2016, 1 MIL doesn't seem like that much for a team of over 10 people.

Considering the Russian Economy failed somehow in that timeframe, it is a bit of a miracle the game even exists at this point.

Three point six. Not great, not terrible.

This game is currently #55 on Steam's global top sellers, for what that is worth.

Also MandaloreGaming on Youtube recently put out a mostly positive video review of this game, and he has about 225k subscribers.

So, hopefully over time, the game keeps selling enough for IPL to make it worthwhile to them to release Bachelor and Changling DLC.

I really hope this game did at least somewhat even out their production costs or hopefully even net them a bit of money, from the bottom of my heart :steamsad:. Not even because I necessarily want them to churn out the other two characters from the original game, but just because they deserve it. These kind of devs/games deserve way more attention.

Well, the game is quite cool, but I returned it as it ran badly on a higher end machine and had micro stutters all over the place and huge frame drops depending on where you looked in buildings.

Wanted to buy this again after a few good optimization patches, but as they never really happened I guess I will wait for a sale for 75% off in a year or so to play it chilled out on my laptop and ignoring that it is a mess as I will not have spent full price on it.

Are you trolling? This game is not a mess by any measure. It runs decently even on my old i5 2500k processor., with 1050 TI. Not on the highest settings, but still this game is well-optimized for what it is. If you're expecting it to run on anything older/worse than that, I think it might be time for an upgrade, and the game has nothing to do with it.

I understand that everyone's financial situations are different, but coming in and saying "I can't spare one haircut worth of money on a game that isn't well optimized" when it clearly is optimized and polished is a ridiculous statement. Just say that you're short on the money, and it would be fair enough, there's no need to trash the game.

I really like the game but it definitely doesn't feel very optimized. But it's probably pretty hard to make a 3D open world game like this with Unity to run well. It's not a high paced action game, so it's fine imo.

Of course It's possible. This not about engine or money (at least not for 100%). It's more about work with "mechanics of the segments".

Every "open world" have a segments. Actually it's the same old sistem with "locations". Just player cant see the borders.

Unfortunately IPL have a persons who can do a really good plot and story. But they havn't a good programmers. Well, maybe they can fix the game later...

(one good thing - it's not a 3d shooter :) otherwise - it would be impossible to play)
