Manual loading
I have two warehouses connected. Milk is being brought into the first warehouse and I want it to then be transported by another train to the second warehouse. Problem is, it keeps bringing it back, because the first warehouse obviously has to have milk as an item it's collecting.

I've tried fiddling around with manual loading, but when I click the milk icon, it puts the wagon on both the incoming and the departing trains, so I don't see how that helps. Is there a way to tell a train to only take a certain wagon in one direction but not to bring it back? Or does anyone know of a good tutorial on manual loading?

Warehouses balance out the stored amount.
You can raise (99) or lower (0) the cap (20).
In manual mode remove the milk on your second stop.
You can also try freight and forbid loading in the second of milk or by reducing the max cars to 0.

Maybe you can find a specific video for manual mode by Adekyn https://www.youtube.com/user/Adekyn100/search?query=railway+empire
I really don't know if he has done one but he you definitely will find good solutions for many questions. Note that anyone who has some experience in Railway Empire will tell you that there are no best solutions. It depends how you wanna play the game what may fit better.

It's been a while since I used manual loading. As I recall you have "Incoming" and "Departing" loading. If you click on the icon for what you want to transport it will fill 1 each of both. You can click on "Departing" icons to keep the train from loading each car.

At the WH you want to take from click the "Milk" icon for each car you want to fill and then at the WH you want to leave it at click the "Departing" icons to empty them to keep the train from taking them back. I believe after that if you look at the WH you originally took the milk from the "Incoming" icons will be empty.

It takes some playing around to get an understanding of "Manual".

When using manual loading, you have to REMOVE the milk cars from the train at the destination stop on the the Route Manifest. Otherwise they will stay on the train (forever).

Check out this guide and look towards the end of the Case Study section where it adds some pictures to what's been explained above.

Good :)

A simpler way to manage the 2-Warehouse route is to set to Automatic, set the good you want to move from the current Warehouse to "Preferred" there and set it to "Prohibited" at the other Warehouse. That's quick to set up and does what you want, and will fill in extra space on the train with the generally well-behaved Automatic setting.

True story.

Keep your warehouse train to automatic and use the prohibited option on one destination to ensure one-way.

Ahh, didn't know about the 'Preferred' and 'Prohibited' options, that sounds much easier, thanks for tips :)
