Who was the main villain? What was the cause of this?
Even though there is dusccision about whether walker goes "bad", we still cannot deny the fact that there was already bad ♥♥♥♥ happening before we got there. While walker was hallucinatin konrad and other things,we did not hallucinate the radioman, or the 33rd.

Honestly I don't feel any regret into picking my choices, I did pick most of the "evil" chioces at the end,, but at the end of the end story, I picked the "live and let live" ending. Which basically allows walker to return to society. What I cared for most about was the unanswered questions about who the hell was radioman and how did he get so much power? lol. Why did the 33rd start killing each other?

In the beginning, everyone wanted the same thing: Dubai's population to survive the storm. Initially, they tried an evacuation. Two things interfered; the desert sands were far too harsh to evacuate an entire city, AND probably a number of small incidents with the evacuation convoy lead to escalation and people getting shot. (The Arabic population probably didn't trust the United States Army "invaders" so much, especially corralling them out of the city)

From there, they all hunkered down in Dubai, establishing an ad-hoc government to maintain control. Resistance groups, feeling that the army had no positive intentions for them, started forming, spurred on by the CIA (who at that point had assumed this would never end well for the Dubai population)

While Konrad was willing to commit to heavy force to maintain order, and keep things from degenerating into water-looting and stealing, some of his officers weren't so keen on it. Half the 33rd split off from the others, to stop the controlling situation and try another evacuation. They were the losing half.

With evacuation looking more and more grim, they didn't really have many options but to sit in place, with built-up tensions between the locals and the 33rd after all the needless fighting. When Walker shows up, he accidentally ends the 33rd's cease fire with the Resistance.

That's as much as I remember. Walker may not be innocent, but I hardly think anyone is. Worst part, each decision taken on its own seems kind of reasonable.

There is no villain and thats kinda the point of this game. The world isnt divided into good guys and bad guys. Neither walker nor konrad is evil

I don't know if you guys figured this out but Konrad is actually Walker's multiple personality. Watch the last cutscene carefully. You can tell that they look almost identical. It's one of those cliche movie plots where the main character creates a multiple personality because he can't handle what he has done. Many spots in the game were part of Walker's hallucinations. One of the endings shows what he really did, such as killing Lugo and Goul himself. Plus, there is no one at the end with Walker -- note "Konrad" is dead in the chair. If you let "Konrad" pull the trigger, you basically kill yourself.

Which ending is that?O.o I didn't try the killing yourself one lol, I never take that option in games no matter how bad

True what happy camper says, even because when you chose to not kill yourself the dead konrad on the chair disappear.
Also, when its shown you killing lugo and goul? (and why those two names are wrote with the same lecters?)

If you are looking for a villain of the reponsibles for what happened in Dubai, you can choose the 33rd. Why? The 33rd Battalion deserted when ordered to abandon the city and its refugees by the United States government. The 33rd declared martial law and after an failed evac attempt, it went rogue and started a war among the unit.

The Delta Team was sent for a reconnaissance mission, but things changed when Walker were looking for answers and the 33rd (The Damned) thought they were CIA and started attacking them on the Nest.

33rd or CIA can be the villain, you may choose either one

During the moment where Konrad is counting down, if you just let things play out, he pulls the trigger, which in turn is how Walker kills himself because he was actually holding the gun to himself, but the hallucination makes it looks like it's Konrad attempting to kill Walker. I got this ending originally because I wanted to see what would happen if I just let things play out. Then I reloaded the game to see the other endings.

I mean the ending where it shows Walker actually killing his teammates, couldn't find it.

I wouldn't say the game has a true villain unless you count Martin Walker, who some may say is "not guilty by reason of insanity". However, out of everyone, he caused the most damage by trying to play the hero.

The writer Walt Williams has gone on record saying "Fade to White" transitions indicate hallucinations; which "Live and Let Live" has. The writer has also said that other parts of the story are open to interpretation, but he believes you die during the helicopter crash at the beginning of the game, and enter a state of purgatory.

When you replay the helicopter section later on, Martin gets a sense of Deja vu, so perhaps he has been reliving these horrors a second time in purgatory? You'll notice that after this crash, Martin begins having visions of fire and brimstone, tortured souls, etc.

At the end of the epilogue when the rescuing soldiers ask Martin how he survived, he says "Who says I did?"

Was kind of the genius behind the game, makes you think about the events and what all was real all the way to the point of the actual gameplay itself. Like sure it all happened at some point, but are we playing it in it's original form? Or reliving Walker's mission into Dubai? Then there is the crash, did they actually survive it? Or did he die and now it's just his mind playing the events on it's own without realizing it. Really makes you think about the events. More could probably be extracted from the intel, but I only found a little over half of them in my run. Was going to look up a video with all of the logs just so I could listen to them in one go instead of having to go back and find them before being able to listen to them. But all the videos end up being "where to find" ones.

I hope they continue making games with storylines such as this one.

Well, answer for question 1: Exactly, you understood the game.
Answer for question 2: "Who was the main villain? What was the cause of this?"
