The problem for the PC version is that it has Denuvo, which some claims to reject your game if your first launch isn't connected to the net. I do not know how true that claim is though, since most of my Denuvo games run fine without the net. Then again, I think I ran all of them connected to the net at first.
gotcha, im not acquainted with denuvo much.. but if whatever it is, allows me to play my game at a decent framerate then im more than satisfied. I know for a fact that valve wouldnt allow any form of malware/spyware on their site. I've seen plenty of "developers" go under because they were selling bloatware/spyware.. cant wait for the release of this beast of a game! februrary 1st is around the corner..
The game must be run online for the first launch, and it must be run online whenever Denuvo wants to phone home. Offline Mode won't last.

That is not true. Only some games require always online connections. Usually big publishers like EA do crap like that and even then, only do it for a couple games like need for speed. The games that do require always online connections are usually games like Destiny or Anthem who's gameplay is integrally tied to online multiplayer. But most games that are mostly single player only with a tacked on multiplayer mode do not require always online connections. The exceptions to those rules I never buy because I refuse to buy single player games that require always online requirements.
I have yet to hear of any indie game developer or normal publisher requiring always online connections for any of their single player games. The only publishers that have tried to do that are EA (Need for Speed) and Ubisoft (Assassins Creed 2 and Anno 2070 which have since removed the always online requirement years ago). Hell, as much as I don't like Activision, I can't think of a single game they've tried to implement that on. Games like Destiny don't count because of the aforemention multiplayer being integrally tied to the game.
The only upcoming single player game I know of that will be coming with an always online requirement is Beyond Good and Evil 2. F### you very much Ubisoft. So as much as I want to play that game, I will not be buying it because I refuse to buy single player games with always on DRM. Never have, never will.
The bottom line: You are talking out of your @$$. Make sure you have your facts straight before making grand overarching generalizations like that. Comments like that just make you look like a moron.
Most games these days require online authentication once in awhile to make sure you're playing a legitimate copy. But a once in a while phone home checkup is not the same thing as a 24/7 always online requirement.
after the first authentication, you'll be able to play offline for couple of days...but they will need internet connection again later on if you keep playing the game offline for days....

that's lame. i personally dont care for online multiplayer because of how toxic the whole thing is. regardless of what game it is. sad that the day where countless hours of single player were the mainstream thing is now an after thought. seems like since 6 came out they've been pushing this online narrative. hopefully i will be able to play ac7 in peace in single player.
