Current state of joystick support?
What is the current state of joystick support? With Ace Combat: Assault Horizon I am able to bind axis for stick, throttle and rudder pedals using Joystick Gremlin (uses Vjoy) and was wondering if Ace Combat 7 at least has the same ability? I saw posts about using x360ce and I really do not want to get into using that work around.

It depends on what you have, it detects some models of joysticks (mostly Thrustmaster, but also some from other brands occasionally) but they either have pre-defined bindings or nothing. If you want to rebind those who do or create new bindings for those that are detected but have no predefined bindings you need to fiddle with ini files, there are a few topics about the details.

So you can just bind axis by moving the stick? Hard to believe it has less capabilities than the earlier version.

You mean Assault Horizon with "previous version"?
Because at launch AC7 was way worse than now at launch, you couldn't even use the ini files to rebind the already supported models (which were fewer) and sometimes the game outright refused to work even with those, AH was ported to PC by another developer.

Well I went ahead and purchased the game. It seems that it does support any number of controllers but in order to use them you have to edit the input.ini file manually. So far my stick, throttle and rudder pedals axis are all working fine. Also I use Joystick Gremlin which its Vjoy support to remap any axis and buttons so I can get joystick curves for what I need.

I can't believe the company is too lazy to do a configuration screen.

Next is to get my TrackIR working

Stay tuned

"C/User/YOURNAME/AppData/Local/BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment/ACE COMBAT 7/Config".

Make a copy of it first

It's not so much lazyness as it seems that they want the game to be as closed off as possible.

For TrackIR you can use this method:

The game support Vjoy directly so you dont need use x360ce, just edit in ini file
ProductName=vJoy Device
.
.
.
Flight_CameraPitch=Ry
Flight_CameraYaw=Rx
.
.
Or some other vjoy axis as you set up in FreePIE script

appdata is hidden folder. Ask google how to show hidden folder in your windows version. Or download Total commander.
