It's too boring to stick with.
People have many random thoughts about multiplayer here, and you're not the only one who's complaining about empty lobbies. I have a trouble earning the last achievement before New Year, so hosting a lobby is my last resort there.
odd since there was an Ace Combat focused entirely on multiplayer before AC7 that was absolutely brilliant, yet they didn't carry any of it over.
I'm in the same boat. I bought the game for the campaign and wanted to check out MP when I was finished but it's just dead.
It would be more alive if there was a difficult story/coop mode where you can all fly allied but even then, i think it wouldn't last too long.
Imho, the part system was great for the campaign, but it should have been left out for multiplayer.
It breaks aircraft balance too much. Some planes are garbage, other are god tier.
There's only two modes, and the maps are just campaign maps and mostly empty. I find yinshi valley is the only one i play on because you can use the environment to maneuver around threats , and your flight skill is actually worth something there.
On the other maps i find that usually skill is offset by your build. Usually when i win, i don't feel rewarded because i won only thanks to my plane's part build, and not thanks to my skills.
The other guy just could not physically dodge my ultra upgraded missiles.
And when i lose, i feel like i am that guy. I just lost because he had an op F22 QAAM build where you simply cannot dodge his missiles.
The rare times you find an even match, it is incredibly fun. Trying to outmaneuver your opponent, trying to gain the advantage, and maybe have him or you crash on some rock pillar in yinshi is great fun, but unfortunately most matches are not like this. Most matches are an SP weapon spam where the most upgraded plane simply wins.
Well, i can't exactly say that i have played this games' esports or something. What i do know is that changing aircraft parts makes even my own performance vastly better.
I gotta be honest on one thing though, 2000 points restricted lobbies are ridiculously fun.
With most op planes out of the way, and limited upgrades, the game shows itself in it's best form.
