Can't load save game

It happened twice now that I wanted to play but for some reason all my progress is gone because the game just doesn't load my save. The files are still there at <Steam-folder>\userdata\<user-id>\501590\remote\ but when I start the game my only option is to start a new game.

Is the cloud enabled in addition? It can interfere with the loading process.

Edit: Had to boot up the game since I got a new PC and the old saves are not present.......

You should have 4 files in that folder you indicated:

Checkpoint.sav
PersistentStats.sav
profile.bin
storage.bin

If they ain't there you need to start afresh or if you had a cloud save/old PC then use those.

If they are there then there is not much to do other than report the issue to Gearbox support and see if they have a fix, although odds are you can get back to where ever were by the time they do....

You can try backing them up, removing the saves, jump in to the game, jump out and replace the new files and see if that has an effect.
