I was looking forward to Heartland, but dread difficulty = 0 fun for me
Not all gamers are created equally. I'm just not that good. it saddens me. I am now giving up on SOD2. If they do not allow difficulty settings for SOD3, it will be a non-starter for me.

It's definitely challenging but that's part of the fun!

Personally I've gotten good at identifying situations where one of my peeps will probably die and I quickly quit to main menu.

When you reload your character will probably be severely injured but at least they're not dead and the zombies are no longer chewing on my leg so I have a chance to heal up and catch my breath.

I knew the basics just weren't enough and you need to apply serious strategy and timing with your irreversible decisions. Outpost & loot locations are accessed easiest in the early stages including vehicles. I experimented with trial & error until something worked.

You haven't given up because you're one of us...
Hostile NPCs and blood juggernauts are broken

And that's exactly it. It even says "For experienced players". If you want to play something easier, green Zone is your way to go. The difficulties are so much apart for everyone. But the Story was something with a challenge.

I had just finished my first standard difficulty a couple of monthd ago and then decided id try out lethal, was really hard but super easy to get the hang of it, i basically had to relearn the entire game all over again because everything you know from standard will get you killed in lethal, fast searching? Never, kicking in doors? Dumb move, ramming your vehicle through every horde of zombies? 3 zombies in and your car is on fire, its honestly super fun cause your basically in a real ish survival situation at all times, currently on day 52 out of 100 so i can get the achievement. Hope this helps you know that anybody can do it if they input enough effort to relearn mechanics! Although what you said about introducing difficulty sliders for state of decay 3 id have to completely agree, i need some more challenge in my blood!

Man I feel ya'. I'm too on the 100 days grind, currently day 20, lost 3 survivors so far.
One got shot by hostile survivors. One got pinned by a horde of 3 or 4 ferrals. The last one got the plague, far from home, no outpost in site, died in seconds.
It's a hussle but so much fun if every wrong move can cause a dramatic loss.
You really have to decide, do I wanna go there, do I wanna shoot just now.
Survival really shines in lethal.

Dude ive also lost 3 survivors, one to a plague jugg that decided base safe zones dont exist, we bombed the heck out of him and destroyed him in seconds, problem is he made a lot of noise and a big horde of a feral 3 screamers and what seemed like 30 zombos, kept me distracted after the juggernaut had infected my leader, he turned during the fight and died, another one died because i accepted a grandma into my team, she had all negative traits and had a maximum of 49 health, one feral slap would knock her down, she was also a sheriff and i decided to do her first sheriff mission which happens to be a gun fight, she got killed pretty quick, another loss was around the beginning, i had a red talon nut that decided to join me, i thought i was pretty good at standard mode and could totally handle anything as that red talon guy, i was very wrong lmao.

That's because the fun doesn't start until lethal.

Lethal isn't worth either the aggravation, cheesing the system (e.g. stand on cars all day long), or the limits on freedom of gameplay. For me.

You don't need to be capable of lethal to get through Heartland, but there are aspects of game knowledge that you need. Accepting infrequent character deaths is fun. For me.

If you can't get far in Heartland, you honestly should at least get yourself through standard before attempting it. If you got through standard and still cant get through Heartland with a little difficulty, then Im sorry you wont get to experience it. But you would be in the vast minority of gamers.

SOD2 has some great difficulty options. It's not 'git gud', its just 'get better'. It's not that hard.

It is fun. Do you know why you got so many zombs around you? Because you need to clear time periodically so they don't spawn so much. If you don't spend time clearing the zone, the zone gets darker red and they will spawn more often and in larger groups. This was added like a over a year ago or something. Hence the lingering red zones, either getting lighter or darker, depending how often you spend time clearing zombies BUT in the next patch, you don't want to clear zombies too fast or you'll wake up the PH sooner.

I have cleared a lot of the zoms around me with my powerhouse character occationally for the pennies of influence i can get.

From my understanding is, if the zone gets little action, they frequency and difficulty of the zone increases as it regenerates into a red zone again versus a PH zone, difficulty is greater than one without a PH.

It's been awhile since I've fought in a PH zone because I've been farming but I think it also applies to PH zone but the base line difficulty of a PH zone is just greater than one without. However mechanic changes in the next big update where you they are adding PH mechanics and tweaking zone and infestation mechanics. Check out the vids on YT.
